This arrived yesterday. I could not buy it here in the UK and when I found a company that did originally sell it, they said they could no longer sell it here due to Brexit. I am not sure if it was because it was an item with a sharp blade and came from Germany, they were not clear as to why.
So, I emailed the German company direct and asked them if this was the case and if not, did they have a UK distributor. They said they did not ship to the UK now. But, I could always look on Amazon DE (Germany).
So, I did. Half expecting it to say it could not ship to the UK. But it didn’t. I picked it, paid for it, and it arrived yesterday a week later…

Now, the reason I wanted a meat slicer was because at Christmas I bought some Iberian ham and found I could not cut it thin enough with a knife. Having thought about it, after also having s good joint of beef and ham on the bone, being able to slice it evenly and yes a bit thinner (not always ‘wafer thin’ as Python would say) would mean it would make said meats go further. PLUS! And there is a very big plus. Because of me. If you look at my forum picture, I am into hand woodworking, and it is me having a laugh trying to emulate that great Kenny Everret character Reg. The DIY chap who always ended up injuring himself resulting in lots of blood.
Well, yesterday I was preparing a meal and thinly slicing a cabbage. I keep my knives super sharp using a wet stone. Literally two hours before the slicer’s arrival and I have nearly sliced the top RH side of one of my fingers off. Lots of blood, lots of pain… still, and maybe a visit to our local cottage hospital if the pain does not ease off at least a bit by tomorrow.
Oh, and I decided on going for a manual slicer and not electric home one, because from what I could afford, I did buy one but sent it back, as the motor was too weak and there was more plastic than metal in it.
