Pompeyexile This arrived yesterday. I could not buy it here in the UK and when I found a company that did originally sell it, they said they could no longer sell it here due to Brexit. I am not sure if it was because it was an item with a sharp blade and came from Germany, they were not clear as to why.
So, I emailed the German company direct and asked them if this was the case and if not, did they have a UK distributor. They said they did not ship to the UK now. But, I could always look on Amazon DE (Germany).
Most smaller business can’t be bothered to deal with the Brexit implications around exporting items to he UK. The market is simply not big enough. For items which cost less than £135, it’s their responsibility (seller)to inform HMRC, deal with the paperwork and pay any taxes due. On items above that value, it’s your responsibility (buyer) to pay any taxes due. Amazon already has all the mechanisms and presence in many countries, so they do that when they sell to you. Small business loses out, big fish wins.
