Quick Mill Arnos

Hi all!

Does anyone here have some insight on the Quick Mill Arnos? I was sold on a good deal on a Bianca but it didn’t work in the end while I was sold on the MaraX, I came across the Quick Mill Arnos and realized there may be other options to consider in that price range.

Thoughts? Is it a clever integration of a PID on a HX or not as good as the MaraX?

It’s just using a PID instead of a pressurestat….makes no difference to brew temperature stability and if tunes as a PID usually results in a 20% reduction in potential maximum steaming power. If you read anything else, it’s because it’s either marketing spiel, or a lack of knowledge by the reviewer.

From an espresso point of view, it really makes no difference at all, and it’s doing nothing like the MaraX

DavecUK thanks Dave. So I guess regulating only the boiler is not advantages. I’ll reread your review of the MaraX since you explain that bit quite well. I wasn’t sure if the Arnos was copying the MaraX design.

In your review of the MaraX you mentioned that there is nothing comparable to the MaraX on the market at this price point. To your knowledge, is it still the case? Anything else one should consider before buying it?

It’s still the case (to the best of my knowledge) that there is no comparable HX on the market, that does what maraX does

I believe WLL and Quickmill worked together on the Arnos and it is not available outside the US market so if you are in the UK then I don’t think you’ll be able to get hold of one. I believe the most similar machine would be the Andreja PID.

I think Quickmill has some sort of relation ship with Ferrari although I don’t think they hold a lot of physical stocks.

All Quickmill’s machines are traditional HX implementations.

DavecUK ok so the MaraX is THE HX to get for thermal stability. Otherwise the next improvement would be a dual boiler although I think you mentioned that even some DB don’t have that precision.

All dual boilers I have published a review for, tested and produced recommended settings, all have even better precision/adjustability.

What’s the appeal of the Arnos or the Pro-400? Is it a simple HX with a PID? (there are many others). Doesn’t the Pro-500 do exactly the same thing?

I see - I completely missed that part! Is it the same for the Arnos?

So, if I understand this correctly, the Pro-400 is/will be a direct competitor of the MaraX?
