DavecUK Hi Dave, Yes - mine is definitely a v3 Bianca AFAIK - It says so on my invoice at least.

It has the low flow mode too (not aware of a “high flow” setting, unless I’ve missed something)

Checked the BB website listing and mine appears to have all the v3 features. Also searched for a replacement v3 mushroom valve in stainless steel and can’t see one anywhere other than for other manufacturers. Lemondixon I used hi flow to refer to normal flow. You definitely have a V3. Perhaps they changed their mind in the intervening year. I shall remove mine and check it when I get a spare moment

Is there any conclusion as to whether low flow mode improves pre-infusion compared to regular flow? If not, when do you use low flow mode?

Also, is there a way to search entire discussions on this forum and display comments that match a certain criteria? e.g. is it possible to search the 84 posts of this thread for ones that talk about low flow mode and pre-infusion?

At the end of the day it is all a matter of preference and taste. If using just preinfusion works ok then that is fine. If preinfusion with low flow improves in your opinion the extraction that is also fine. I don’t think there is a hard and fast rule, to what is best as ultimately it’s what your taste buds prefer. Lelit introduced low flow to improve repeatability of shots so that if the formula is preferable for your coffee/ grind you can repeat it with more accuracy via the pid.

I used low flow in a few ways on mine.

Set machine to 9 bar approx on the paddle and then allow low and high flow phases to produce a profile, without having to move the paddle. It was a little like GSP (Gradual soft preinfusion) on the Crem 1 2B LFPP
Or do a complete low flow shot.

Question: Is there any justifiable reason (apart from supply/demand) that the Bianca in black/white powder coating is £600 more expensive than the box standard version of stainless steel?

Does it cost that much more to produce a powder coated version?

I checked on Bella Barista and 30 coffee. The price difference is equivalent.

yeah i think its crazy too - also from watching a vid online they have now buried the temp adjust inside the lcc - so you cant just adjust brew temp with one press

£600 for powder coat??!!

I’m not sure if there’s a special finish or anything required for food safe coatings but based on how much it costs to get motorbike parts powdered, £600 for a unit that size seems like a lot.

Personal preference but I still think the chrome version looks infinitely better.

Agree with this. Conversely I prefer the Minima in black and have one in black, but definitely think the stainless Bianca looks far better than the black version

dutchy101 it’s funny how people like different things, I think e61 stainless steel machines are ugly and genuinely the new painted Biancas are the only machines to make me consider an e61 machine.

I think the modern shape of the Minima helps the colours work. I agree it looks good.

The GS3 works as an E61 style in colours too as it’s a modern take.

But the Bianca is so otherwise classically styled, it feels like it belongs in stainless/chrome.

I get why they’ve probably done it though, presumably to appeal the to YouTubers and Instagrammers with their fancy neon lights and shallow depth of field shots. And they’re the ones who can afford the £600 premium 😂

@DavecUK hey! I have been temp testing the Bianca v3 for two days. Is it your experience there is a consistent 4 degree offset between brew boiler and what comes out? I’d imagine that’s about right since PID is in the boiler and nothing reading at the group. Additionally, how have you found the temp offset function to work? I can’t get it to show any substantial change. I even added 25C to see if I could get a substantial rise in temp, but to no avail. Is it just that there isn’t enough time even in a 50s shot to increase temp substantially?
I have acheived maybe half a degree increase, but that is what I get around the 25s mark with 0 offset, anyway.

I just did a few shots at -10 and then at 0 offset. almost identical readings for both over the span of 5 pulls each over 45s. Very curious what you discovered with it

lancehedrick I discovered any change was too late to do anything as most of the water was in the pipes and the group by then.

I do want to do some temperature testing on the black Bianca I heard that was sent to me recently, using mice case to. The problem is that I had a V3 Bianca about a year before it launched so then might have been some small changes between the time I had it and the time it actually launched.

I’m in Italy at the moment, and then preparing for the Rimini exhibition but when I get back I intend to fire up the black Bianca and do some extensive skates 2 testing on it and I’ll report back here.

Did you ever check if the mushroom reverted to brass or still SS as you were told earlier? I haven’t bothered to check. Probably will later today (or midnight, as is my MO), but curious if you’d already

i loved my bianca, great machine

im not a fan of the price up jar on the powder coating mind, i know the handles/knobs are more too but still £600 is a bit
