Many years ago someone brought back from their holiday in the states some Hershey’s Kisses, little individualy wrapped pyramid shaped chocies. They were disgusting and at the time, I said they tasted like baby sick.
Only last year, I was watching QI and they mentioned the sicky taste of American chocolate and Hersheys in particular and said it was because of some chemical they put in it. Apparantly, because the good ol US of A is so big and the milk to make Hersheys has to be transported a long way, it has to have this additive to stop it going off.
Now as I’ve grown older and a little more refined… ahem! I find Cadbury’s chocolate far too sickly sweet and not chocolaty enough. Even Aldi’s chocolate has about 33% cocao solids whereas I believe Cadbury is somewhere in the low 20’s.
I have some chocoalate that is 95% cocoa solids and even I find that too earthy for want of a better word to enjoy.
Coffee and chocolate is good, but red wine and chocoalte… Lovely!
