For this machine it's one of the first made, and I am doing an Engineering review on it for Antonio (the creator) as a favour, so I can't really comment at this stage. But I can post photos….and say that the Paddle levers on this are very basic beta ones….so that area is still in the design melting pot.

I love the look of these sorts of lever machines, but they really need to at least try to make them a bit more compact in design. They're either lacking in that area of expertise or they don't care… A more compact design would look like a much better centre piece in a kitchen (and take less space in a commercial setting), rather than protruding till the near edge. The size distracts from the elegance of it.

@"Sham"#p10001 I agree when it comes to similar sized Levers that require external plumbing or flojet type arrangement. But the Nurri is dual boiler and plumbing is optional. Still, I agree that it's a lot for a normal kitchen. I like the footprint on the Decent for example.

@"tompoland"#p10007 In that case they should have either decreased tank sizes and utilised quicker water heating technology (I'm sure there's loads of options from other industry's) or started with a more wide design but I guess that would've cost too much R&D time. One way to think of it is that they won't lose customers if its small, but they will lose customers if its too big. It does look pretty nice though.

The manual does list out the pid default parameters and the valori delta values but it does not explain how to change them if desired.

Just in from the Nurri Facebook Group page … may be a timely addition to the thread. No idea about the legitimacy of this announcement or how one would go about a software upgrade unless it is only for new machines.

Good news!!! The L-TYPE is going to receive a PID software upgrade. This will enable independent PID control parameters over the 3 probes for fine temperature tuning.

chlorox I’d be surprised if the PID controller didn’t have a USB or other port to enable firmware upgrades. Whether that’s ‘user-friendly’ enough to be doable by the average consumer… different question. I’m surprised that it enables different parameters for different probes, though, as that was a question that I asked ‘way back when’, and it was answered in the negative.

As well, Nurri is working on doing a retrofit for the port at the back of the machine that the user can use a screwdriver to control the pump with. This was a change that came a s a result of my suggestions to him on an easier way to control the pump than fiddling with a screwdriver. He is going to replace it with a control dial. It is still in the process.

New update on the coffeesnobs forum - casa espresso has announced that an Improved lever to pump mechanism / activation retrofit kit will be sent to them by nurri on their next shipment. I recall my own dealer telling me that Antonio was working on it when he delivered my machine so I’m keen to see how the new retrofit improves the mechanism and the operation.

I assumed the paddle covers would have been included in the order also but they were not supplied. I understand it is now available as an option. Are you getting those wooden covers? I understand from a post on coffee snobs forum I belirve that they are to be secured with double sided tape which doesn’t seem to be that secure. Originally I wanted the wooden covers but I am not sure whether I want them anymore as I have gotten quits used to the bare steel paddles.

Yes it’s double sided tape which sounds a bit meh to me.

But I guess if the tape is thin enough and custom cut to the exact shape, they may be OK. I’ll let you know.
