Paolo5 I hope it’s ¼ inch cos that’s what I just ordered. I’ll let you know if it fits. (I was too lazy to pull the panels off again so took a punt.)

¼ inch is correct. My brass connector arrived today but I’m waiting for a tiny pair of hands to walk in the door before I attempt to fit it. The access is too small for my big mitts.

Also, i just noticed that the original blue connector looks far more solid than the ones in photos that have failed (from other machines). So now I’m wondering if it’s even worthwhile to swap it out for brass. I may just keep the brass one as a back up.

Thats a good point. It may be better to keep the stainless steel connector in reserve until it is needed if the original part breaks down. Even if it does break down, also consult with the dealer and manufacturer first on whether to use that part or their replacement part in the interests of the warranty.

yeah, id leave be till needed, id say get some of the silicone tubing too for when the time comes as most the time, you see the connector and tubing degraded,

What size tubing would you used for the brass connection. It’s prob worth looking at it for mine in the future.

You’d think they would be metal the small fortune these machine cost haha

Just measured and mines 7mm od so sounds about right

This was very interesting. Showcasing a smoking hot Kees Van Der Western Slim Jim which IMHO is the most desirable lever on the planet. But is besides the point which is that two of the features showcased in the video (flush and pressure release) are replicated by the paddles on the Nurri.

I really like the look of the new ACS Vostock and the inclusion of a similar post-shot pressure release feature is impressive too but I am hoping that it can be manually triggered because I like the way the Nurri paddle allows me to choose when to end the shot, like on the Slim Jim.

For me the idrocompresso isnt in the same category as its not available in single group form and the size and cost of the 2 group machine are prohibitive to all but the very well heeled being many times the cost of the nurri. Despite that I believe the only things the slim Jim can do that the nurri cannot do are the ability to adjust the length of the springs and the safety feature to lock the lever handle. All othrr things held comstant is there going to also necezsarily be any better quality in the cup? I doubt that as well.

chlorox agree with all of that.

However the aethetics gets a “Hell Yeah” from me.

(Not that the Nurri isn’t a stunner as well)

What happens it you accidentally vent the group

I’ve often though about this for both the nurri/Vostok

I know the kvdw has the lock

I’ve pondered that the vent on the nurri/vostok will be a limited size so it allows the arm not to ping back but come back slower is that the case

The video of the Vostok releasing, albeit at the end of the shot so down around 6bar, shows the lever slowly rising up.
I agree that it must be an appropriatly small vent.
I reckon the Nurri would be similar.

The nurri’s venting merely causes the lever handle to rise slowly at a safe pace. Whether this is done by the controlled rate of water release or by a servo mechanism I do not know, but the release motion is very smooth and entirely safe and predictable. See this 2021 video for instance from about 1:44 onwards…

im meaning more an accidental knock, say press the lever/button -safety say when its down, the kwdw has a catch to hold it there, i believe the oe lsm group is damped

Here is another clip that shows the lever arm rising after the shot is ended with the paddle…

Just thinking aloud here, but… if the piston is full or partially full of water and the spring compressed… in order to decompress fully and the lever go all the way up in a split second, all the water needs to leave the piston immediately. If the venting hole is, say, 5mm in diameter (I don’t know how wide it is, but maybe it’s half of that!) he water will escape slowly, and consequently the lever won’t ever give you a kick in the teeth?

I could provide you with some mathematical formulae to calculate the flow rate and rate of decompression, but it would take me months as I’d need to re-read my physics books…. 🤣

Now, imagine what would happen if the portafilter on the group (54mm diameter hole) disengages all of a sudden… 😬

                  Cuprajake

Sorry are u referring to the what happens when the left paddle is actuated or what happens if the lever hamdle is pulled down on an empty portsfilter and then accidentally the lever handle is released ?

tompoland Hi Tom, thank you for sharing. I liked the video very much, the Western music was a nice touch 😀. I am sure you have seen it, but it is ironic (and might be a bit negligent) to have such a technology beast and the coffee coming out to be so thin. I would expect something viscous to come out down the spouts.
I wonder how this machine can be serviced but by a qualified engineer. I doubt they will go for a single group, as most likely not many would go for it, as I suspect it would be cost prohibitive for home use.
It seems the lever trend goes from strong to stronger. Happy days 😀
