For this machine it's one of the first made, and I am doing an Engineering review on it for Antonio (the creator) as a favour, so I can't really comment at this stage. But I can post photos….and say that the Paddle levers on this are very basic beta ones….so that area is still in the design melting pot.

I love the look of these sorts of lever machines, but they really need to at least try to make them a bit more compact in design. They're either lacking in that area of expertise or they don't care… A more compact design would look like a much better centre piece in a kitchen (and take less space in a commercial setting), rather than protruding till the near edge. The size distracts from the elegance of it.

@"Sham"#p10001 I agree when it comes to similar sized Levers that require external plumbing or flojet type arrangement. But the Nurri is dual boiler and plumbing is optional. Still, I agree that it's a lot for a normal kitchen. I like the footprint on the Decent for example.

@"tompoland"#p10007 In that case they should have either decreased tank sizes and utilised quicker water heating technology (I'm sure there's loads of options from other industry's) or started with a more wide design but I guess that would've cost too much R&D time. One way to think of it is that they won't lose customers if its small, but they will lose customers if its too big. It does look pretty nice though.

cyclezib It’s difficult to remember, I should have looked at a photo of the test machine I had…I remember a network of springs and levers that had to be adjusted correctly. The pump I remember was actuated by a switch, which is why it runs continuously when the lever is down.

Thr paddle system is a mechanical system and originallly it didnt have the black plastic or rubber clip. The plastic piece was a recent addition to alleviate some users experience whereby the paddle system didn’t cut out immediately once the lever was released. So the plastic clip is supposed to increase the surface area or something like that to enable it to engage. Sometimes the pump doesn’t cut out immediatrly for me too once the lever is released so I jog the paddle or that actuator piece (the piece in cyclezib’s photo on which the black clip.is mounted) a little and that usually works. My machine was delivered without the plastic piece so I’m looking forward to getting the plastic or rubber clip (along with the lovely zebrawood covers for the paddles) to see if it makes it better.

BTW Antonio is finishing up the prototype for the control dial for the pump and its looking sweet. You are going to like how it looks on the back of your machine once the retrofit is ready.

My dealer tells me he has received the programming for the firmware for the PID upgrade from Antonio. Looking forward to see how that turns out.

LMSC No matter what we do, no product is perfect. Take the Nurri as an example. Not every sample is arriving fully functional to consumers. Still a lovely machine that I’d buy if I needed another one on the table…

AFAIK i am not aware of any customer who has complained of being delivered a unit of the nurri that is not fully functional. If u mean that there are some issues with some units such as the lag of one or two degrees between the temperature set in the pid for the grouphead and the temperature achieved, yes, but those units are fully functional. Even those issues are being addressed in the retrofit pid update that is being field tested currently - my dealer already has the firmware update with them.

chlorox That’s precisely the point. People have different opinions of what is acceptable and isn’t. And, just because a certain product was tested by a given person, it doesn’t mean it will be problem-free in the field. That’s why I’m welcoming of a variety of opinions from different sources; it gives me things to consider. No one person has a monopoly on the best feedback or ideas.

chlorox My machine was delivered not activating the pump on lever down and even adjustment of the plastic clip couldn’t get it so, but that’ll be easily fixable.

Instead I’m so appreciative of a small company bringing this product to life, handbuilding to order and getting so much right. Perfection can’t be expected.

What wasn’t an easy problem to fix was the ECM Sync stealing the pump during extraction to do a refill (poor design). My Izzo was delivered unlocking the PF during extraction causing cracked cups and coffee everywhere. Both far bigger companies.

The technician just installed the pid firmware upgrade on my machine and the rotary pump control dial (as well as the nice zebrawood wooden paddle covers).

The firmware changes to the PID seem to have done the trick - now the grouphead will always reach the exact set temperature rather than lag by a degree as previously before the firmware upgrade. As I understand it the firmware upgrade turns the pid into a true three channel PID whereby each channel is independent of each other.

The control dial for the pump makes it much easier to control the pressure of the preinfusion pump compared to changing the pressure setting with a screwdriver through a port in the back of the machine.

Has any other Nurri owner had these retrofits done to their machines yet?

The timber paddle covers really set the machine off well. In my view they should be included with the machine, not as an optional upgrade.

I have the review finished, video produced, all ready to post. Just waiting for Antonio Nurri to get me his “manufacturers right of reply”.

Sounds like the Allen key screw thing behind the grouphead needs a little fine tuning adjustment - that may help to improve its engagement. At any event just jogging the paddle a little will get it to work if it does not engage immediately. I echo your sentiments about how nice the nurri leva is to use and to look at while using every day - and the espresso and quality of frothed milk it produces is on another level compared to my previous machines.

chlorox Just needed a 0.7 mm thick cap on the activating tab, which I made so it can be easily pulled off for VBT (Viernes Bloom Technique). Plus allowed me to take off the plastic C clip that maybe yours didn’t come with. If it goes out of adjustment quickly, I’ll add the C clip back in.

Vbt - u mean like how viernes did his blooming shot on his video? :) I do the same thing without adjusting my lever at all by not pulling down the lever at all - I merely use the paddle to start the blooming. Only when it’s time to end the blooming, then I pull down the lever and immediately release it.

Found this loose in the crate, but maybe related to how the legs were screwed into the crate as the hole diameter looks the same as the legs. Any idea what it is?

Haven’t seen that before though the dealer delivered and installed my machine so I didn’t get to pore through the crate. Generally only start to worry if it looks like the brakes on your car LOL
