Vesuvius issues (again!)

Hi all,

Having a bit of trouble with the V, again (unfortunately, the last year or so have not been good for it). I’m getting a constant error screen with “Steam boiler t.probeunconnected”. This was intermittent initially, but then went full time.

Thankfully I can still pull shots (with the steam boiler off obviously), but presume either a cable has fallen off, or (as has happened to others) the probe is knackered. Am I right in thinking this would be a wire coming out of the top of the boiler to the control panel? Would this be easy enough to inspect just by removal of the top panel?

Obviously want to make sure before I order a replacement probe, or commit to having any more work done, as even without the price, I will likely be without the machine for a month or so :|

Yes, just 4 Allen screws and the top panel whips off, the thermal probe will be very obvious, it will have 2 white, or red thin wires coming out of a central brass coloured thing. I would definitely get a spare probe…I asked for a couple in my Lelit support package, as they all are interchangeable….only the thread size is an issue.

Obviously check the inline connector and the one into the Gicar box first, but it’s probably the probe failed. Usually you get an AL1 or 2 code I think (from memory).

Something like this, if the thread size is right should work…the prices for these parts is insane though. The other thing you could do is list a set of maintenance parts you might think you need and see if the factory will sell you the spares using the cheapest postage method.

Cheers Dave, will have a look. Yeah, spares have been slowly getting more and more bloody expensive recently.

I’ll have a word with Bella as well, see what they think, if there are no obvious unplugged wires :)

Those probes do seem to be problematical. I have had to replace mine twice, I believe at one point there was a faulty batch as several members had to replace them.

Use extreme care when replacing to not bend or twist the wire (particularly as it leaves the sensor body).

As Dave implied, an easy job to replace it.👍
