looks decent

Decent De1pro v1.45 - Niche Duo - Niche Zero - Decent is the best machine ever made -

Cuprajake ‘decent’ looking indeed! Really cool features all the same. Software taking over everywhere, the lever man will still prefer the lever eh!

I think it’s going to be very very expensive, Synesso is an expensive brand.

JahLaza . Software taking over everywhere, the lever man will still prefer the lever eh!

Years ago, I used to think that more and more software was the answer, with loads of functions for the user. I have no problems personally using and understanding all the advanced capabilities, I’m not sure that goes for the majority of customers though. I think Software has 4 important contributions to make, rather than just adding complexity to the interface and the process.

      Not in any order:

      • Information, diagnostics and telemetry
      • Taking care of stuff so you don’t have to
      • Education and guidance
      • easy, Intermediate and Advanced modes of operation.

Is it just me or does any one else think it looks like it just rolled of a 1950s Soviet factory production line?

As a largely computer based graphic designer who misses pens, pencils and Letraset (well… almost 😂) I like to keep my espresso machines firmly in the ‘old technology’ category…

However, I love seeing the developments in espresso tech and enjoy watching from
the sidelines. It does look like a nicely designed machine for sure. Looks expensive 😅

          LMSC

Haha I was thinking as I was typing that reply, the Bianca isn’t exactly old-school…

I suppose part of it is 60 year old tech with a few bells and whistles

Very excited to see more about this machine. In addition to cost, I really want to know how easy it is to set the pre infusion and ramp down pressure in the software between shots and if you can go from recipe to recipe with these at different levels. The workflow seems so straightforward. Just hoping the user interface is high quality and responsive. I love the paddle design from their commercial machine. I assume they will have to keep the price point close to the decent unless the internals somehow set it apart.

The advances in technology and potential seem to be a double edge sword.

It’s great being able to make better coffee/ espresso, but the ever increasing complexity of machines and reliance on more complicated firmware/ software seems (to me) to increase the potential for reliance on specialist help in fixes and a shorter lifespan.

It’s like cars perhaps, the stuff you can do yourself has become so limited.

I was interested to see this machine pop up:

Seems to be the same approach to the beta extension to the minima, which I really hope isn’t completely dead. Could be a big selling point, having a solid core machine that you can take further if you want to.

In my view it presents the best of both worlds.

PortafilterProcrastinator I was interested to see this machine pop up:

It’s been around for ages, I did an engineering review of the thing, gave them loads of feedback, years later they exhibited at Host Milan 2019, they had not changed anything. The two pumps was because they failed to understand the autofill concept used on Italian machines….. The machine isn’t great!

I may even publish the engineering review of that machine and I am considering publishing the Elkectra Verve one as well.

              PortafilterProcrastinator Then there is this…

Holy shit…that’s a machine for Dolly Parton! I assume it’s a photoshopped April Fool?

DavecUK Good to know on the El Rocio, it only caught my attention because of the outboard box.

I might email Paolo, if only to make him aware there is one person in the world who would buy the minima add on!

As for LHs machine it is very much real. Has a rotary pump, pressure profile knob and pre-sets for a turbo shot and an ‘olympia cremina profile’ - also comes with built in Lunar scales.

To be honest for a dude who almost went level and stopped due to the family using the espresso machine (Can’t risk injury).

This is a machine that is full of safety while still providing tons of options.

I think it looks like a very interesting machine with a good user interface. I have no doubt it will be seriously expensive though. It also sounded like an interesting approach to controlling the temperature, still uses traditional boilers but with a heat exchange and mixing valve. Perhaps this makes it more robust to scale than using a flow heater like the decent.

Interesting machine and a change from the ubiquitous E61 designs, but I can’t imagine it will be affordable. Bringing variable preinfusion time and user triggered ramp down might be appreciated by people who are afraid of lever machines.

I suspect it is more aimed at the people who might be hesitating between a GS3/AV and a GS3/MP, with a similar price to boot.
