SurreyAlan This machine is fine for me, for those who can tell the difference between coffee brewed one or two C apart then I think they might want something more than a 400 or a Mira X.
Any reason why you say this about Mara X, which you don’t have? I believe it was explained above that the difference between the 400 and the X is that the first is a standard HX machine (no temp stability, needs a cooling flush, or - if it doesn’t on the low setting - then it’s too low for steaming), while the latter is the first (and for now the only, as far as I know) HX machine to cleverly keep the correct temperature for brewing without the need for a cooling flush, then boosts the pressure automatically for steaming, so you can enjoy both worlds. You chose to get the 400 for whatever reasons, but there is no need to put off people from buying the more advanced machine, that can keep the correct temperature without cooling flushes AND have enough pressure for steaming.
ST30B I spoke with BB and they said they’ve had allot of repairs for the MaraX. I’m not sure how much this has influenced them choosing to stock the main rival instead now.
Did they actually tell you they chose to stock the Profitec 400 instead of Mara X? Because from looking at their website, what I can see is that while the machine is currently out of stock, what they have to say about it is: “Our best selling machine of 2020, 2021 and 2022.”
There is a good reason why this machine is so popular, and I seriously doubt that Bella Barista chose to stop selling their top selling machine in the last three consecutive years because now they have a standard heat exchanger from Profitec (yes, I know it has three heat settings, but it’s still a standard HX).
