They all look lovely.
I bought my fresh yeast off Amazon, arriving the next day. Like you, I used to get it from the supermarket and there was a time when you could go up to the bakery section and ask for some, and they would either give it free or sell it at a very low price, but not any more. Morrisons was the last place I could buy fresh yeast, it came in cubes but again not seen it for ages. Of course, the only trouble with fresh is its shelf/fridge life and some always gets wasted. I did try freezing some once, but it was a disaster. When I defrosted it, it went liquid and was very dead.
Interesting about the frangipane, I’m now wondering if maybe I was a bit too stingy with it, being afraid it would leak out as Richard said. I’ll know when I eventually cut into it. But I did have a lot left over which will not go to waste as I will add some to the bottom or top of my mince pies when I make them, along with some of the melted rum butter mixed in to the mincemeat ;)
Notice you have a Brod & Taylor proofer. I’ve been wanting one for ages, and it looks like as I have been a good boy this year, my other half is getting me one for my birthday in January.
Thanks for the link. I will add it to my two other Panettone recipes, one of which is a ‘quick’ version and the other a real authentic Italian version which takes about three days to make but apparently taste wise is worth it, from an Italian woman who if you are interested is at Pastagrammar.com. In fact, if you like authentic Italian recipes, she is excellent. She is on YouTube too with her American hubby. Worth a watch.
