Cuprajake What gets me is the play on the weather being global warming. I always thought it was called summer.
Hot weather and they shout global warming, harsh winter and they shout climate change, flooding and they shout rising sea levels/climate change. We canāt win.
Heres a thing, the whole your carbon footprint, or personal carbon footprint was actually coined and promoted by BP, which was a twist on the work of a couple of academics in the 90s. You couldnāt really make it up.
British Petroleum, the second largest non-state owned oil company in the world, with 18,700 gas and service stations worldwide, hired the public relations professionals Ogilvy & Mather to promote the slant that climate change is not the fault of an oil giant, but that of individuals. Itās here that British Petroleum, or BP, first promoted and soon successfully popularized the term ācarbon footprintā in the early aughts. The company unveiled its ācarbon footprint calculatorā in 2004 so one could assess how their normal daily life ā going to work, buying food, and (gasp) traveling ā is largely responsible for heating the globe.
Of course there is now a massive industry in trading carbon credits and carbon offsetting and guess what BP has a massive carbon offsetting business.
It gives one good reason to wonder what is truly believable about any of it and what has really happened to carbon emissions?
