DavecUK Yeah that’s right. Just like Seat & Skoda they’re both VW’s under the skin. Fortunately the emissions are more environmentally friendly .
I was wondering what the feelings were about the level of scale in there & whether it would be a good idea to do a descale or leave it as is & inspect again in a couple of months? I’m not in a rush to do a descale for the sake of it.
If I was to do the descale; my thoughts were that I could overfill the boiler a little to ensure everything is immersed by putting the descale solution direct into it via the connection where the OPV usually sits, which is how I put the camera in. This would also avoid running the solution through the pump & solenoid.
Then heat it as normal & discharge via the hot water tap after a soak followed by a few heat/flush cycles with filtered water; filling from the water tank each time.
It’s something I haven’t had to do before & am unsure as to what to use, soak times etc. I’ve heard that a citric acid solution is often used in SS boilers but as to concentrations I have seen several values mentioned from a 5% solution to whopping 20%
