When you read that doc (not sure if you have) you will see what I’m talking about. The claims they (Eureka) are making are baseless and without any substance what so ever.

MediumRoastSteam hi, I saw that document before, yes it is purely marketing, composed by one ‘eureka’ company it looks like! When I was toying with the idea of purchasing the niche zero I stumbled across lots of stuff online and that was one of them, I didn’t pay much attention after first glance tbh. I don’t believe it would be helpful to someone considering the comparisons either if they were looking for meaningful info

Mine is being delivered later today. I’ll give my thoughts. I had a Niche in the past but didn’t get on with the flavours in comparison to my Atom 75.

I see the term/concept I invented called “exchange” has now become a thing when talking about Retention, exchange and Dose consistency. It’s something I guess 🤔

Initial impressions:

Pleasantly surprised with the build quality. It’s a heavy little unit.
The “blow up” system was missing from my box so have not yet been able to try this out (in touch with retailer to resolve)
Surprisingly quiet. Not as refined as my Atom 75 but pretty sure it is quieter than the Niche before I sold (although that was not exactly offensive)
Fast. You really don’t have much time to do anything else grinding through 18g
Grind quality has been visually very good, no noticeable clumping with no major static issues.

I’ll comment fully on dialling in and workflow for when I have the blow up thingy and a few more different beans to bounce between.

The shots I have had thus far with Bella Barista’s Milk Buster beans have been tasty. When dialling this in, alterations to grind resulted in instant changes when pulling the next shot. Life is too short to actually measure whether Eurekas claims on retention exchange etc are accurate but provided my last comment remains true, I shall be happy.

Duc959 step? The eureka is stepless as far as I know. Are you referring to “range” maybe, or adjustment sensitivity?

Duc959 I will be using it purely for espresso and I think this is really what this grinder is aimed at. It’s a step-less grinder so it can definitely grind coarse enough for filter. The main issue you would have on this grinder is getting back to the same setting previously used if you were flicking between filter and espresso. This is not a strength of the eureka adjustment system in my opinion. The large dial on the Niche is more suitable for that sort of thing.

I think it’s a drawback and not suitable for those looking to use a single dose grinder to easily switch between espresso grind and brew grinds.

Btw, thank you for sharing your first impressions. While we look forward to your comparisons, I wonder if you might be able to provide some inputs re-retentions.

Advantages? Available now, finally.

Disadvantages? The Niche is on order, due fairly soon.

Do I want/need both? Not really.

Which one suits me best? If I knew that, I’d get that one and that one only.

Why order the Niche then? because that is a firm order and until a few days ago, the Eureka was merely on a ‘probably December’. I’ve seen things like that turn up months overdue before (like the laptop I’ve been waiting several months for), and I’ve even some some companies (not suggesting Eureka would do this) use such advance dates as a spoiler to try to stop people ordering competitors products until they can ship.

CoffeePhilE If you are going to hop between espressos and brews like some of us here, unless some body confirms otherwise, I do not think the Eureka single dose grinder is fit for this purpose. Happy to be proven otherwise.

I am still using my JX Pro only. I am happy with this. However, I can see myself buying — some time going forward, for convenience, an electric single dose grinder to easily switch for espressos and brews. I don’t think it’s going to be this.

I would like a flat burr, as the JX pro is conical. If only Niche were to sport a flat, ….😊

As for me, I only drink espresso. So the Eureka ticks many boxes. And it’s a flat burr too. 😊

When I switch between brew methods using my Specialita I turn the dial one full turn coarser for cafetière / aero press. I’ve not found it to be an issue getting back to the espresso setting.
