My thoughts, for what they’re worth, is that a Niche is certainly good enough for espresso for me. But that might say more about my taste buds than the Niche.
Lots of people agree, but they also have their taste buds and you have yours.
I see it like this - some people love modern jazz, others opera, yet more heavy metal and some are into Baroque/choral/light classical. Some will like a mix of several. None are either right or wrong, they just have their preference in tastes.
Also, physically, there’s a small but significant subset of people with many, many more taste buds than others and they taste things very differently to those that don’t. I don’t, but a friend does. You might too. And if you do, my view of the suitability of a Niche will be of even less use to you.
If you possibly can, find someone with one and give it a good try. Take your own coffee round, burn throufh a few cups getting the hang of it. It should tell you if it’s good enough, or worth it (to you) to go more up-market. I’ve had the odd cup prepared on much more expensive gear than mine and yeah, very nice they (usually) were but, is the extra expense involved worth it? Not to me. Your mileage may very well vary.
