Figured I should post a pic of the new machine. Its up and running in its temporary location while some cabinet work is being completed. No issues with shipping. Small issue with the power plug needing to be re-oriented but that was easy enough. So far really enjoying it. The steam power is going to take some time to figure out. I am coming from a gaggia classic where steaming milk is sort of a finesse movement. This machine puts out probably 3-5x more steam and I need to get a hang of the new steaming workflow and not overshooting temps.

Don’t forget to read the Evo FAQ in the forum knowledge base…remembering it’s a continually improved and enhanced product.

Persevere with the 3 hole tip, it’s fast but worth it. Only drop to the 2 hole if the amounts of milk are super small. Stretch for a lot shorter time than you think.

One thing that helped me quite significantly was to decrease the service boiler temp from 130 to 125 °C - I often steam very little milk (35-40 g for two macchiatos), and even with the 2-hole tip I was regularly spilling milk out of the jug.

DavecUK the espresso is already a noticeable jump from the Gaggia. I look forward to it getting even better. I even had my Gaggia fully modded with PID and dimmer control for pump control and upgraded steam wand. I had some reservations that the Leva wouldn’t be as big a jump and I was wrong. Very noticeable in terms of workflow/experience. The shots are also different. I can now certainly see what people are referring to with the body/roundness of the lever shots. The shots on the gaggia were good especially after the mods but right out of the gate the first shots off the Leva are as good or better.

Hi folks. It’s been a while since I’ve been here. I’ve really been enjoying my machine! I bought the evo leva and it was delivered around January of this year.

On Monday morning my machine wouldn’t turn on. Luckily, that evening Paolo and team walked me thru what could be wrong, and we found that my input power module or EIC was burned to a crisp. The module is a corcom 15srb1-s, and I’m having a hard time finding it in the US. Does anyone know where I can get one stateside instead of waiting for a replacement from Italy? It’s a 5 dollar part, and was very easily to remove (and likely will be to replace as well).

TLDR: Anyone know where I can find a evo leva compatible power input module/filter/IEC similar to a corcom 15srb1-s in the US?

you could probably buy an IE C14 female type connector like this and hard wire it in….then connect to it. It would mean removing the spades though. The other option is to make up a short length of cable attach female (spades) to it with a proper cripmer and connect up to it as an extension whilst you wait for the part to arrive.

HI all, Its been a while - hope all is good. Latest update is my evo is chuffed again unfortunately on multiple counts. First problem is easy as pressurstat went resulting I’m water leak in interior and fuses going dramatically - solution of new pressurestat is on the way.

While waiting for this I thought I’d inspect everything and spotted some brown under steam boiler. Traced this back to a lower plug which was wet right above the brown area. I removed this and it had a broken gasket so I have used liquid ptfe in the hope this will seal. Noticed similar but smaller issue on another - same fix. Then noticed a smaller plug. No signs of leak, but thought I would check it. Here is where things maybe get problematic. Pic shown is bottom of boiler with a hex key in the relevant plug to identify it

This one will not undo but also will not tighten - just spins endlessly in either direction. Suspect I now have to get a new boiler but if am lucky maybe that plug is cosmetic - thought I would ask in case anyone knows these boilers e.g. via minima

Definitely believe I am cursed at this point!

danielpugh Not familiar with that machine but I doubt it would be cosmetic.

As it spins freely both ways. (was it tight to start with ?) can you grip it with pump pliers or pliers and pull it straight out. (stripped thread)

danielpugh Hello mate, very sorry to hear your issues again! I had thought all had settled down as you had vanished for a long time.

When did you notice the pressure stat problem please ? I am wondering if that was responsible for the across the board leaks at the bottom of the boiler as well.

We wouldn’t expect scales to have that colour? What’s the brown colour? I could be wrong; it might be the sign of minerals, sediments, rust (in the pipe?).

I thought you have plumbed the machine with RO water is it not? How does the plumbed water look on your reservoir look? Would you test also that water please?

I reckon all the bolts give access to peep inside the boiler. Looks like the thread has worn out. @DavecUK would be able to advise. Have you contacted ACS/Paolo about this? Please do, if you haven’t.

danielpugh It’s “cosmetic” in the sense that as long as it doesn’t leak you are good.

~~When you say “it spins” - is that the hex wrench spinning in the plug, or the whole plug spinning with the wrench?~~

If the former and it doesn’t leak (FWIW, the brown traces seem to be more sealant/threadlocker than leak), then leave it alone - someone else can drill it out as and when.

If the whole plug is spinning, then you have stripped a thread - if you are lucky, only on the plug, which is easily available as a spare (ACS will send you one, but it will cost an arm and a leg in shipping; these are stainless steel and in the UK: https://www.accu.co.uk/2079-imperial-flat-head-socket-pipe-plugs?page=1 - I think that’s a ⅛″ BSP thread, but check with a caliper before ordering).

If you are not lucky, and the thread on the boiler is gone, then a new boiler is needed.

To remove - I would be very careful with mole grips (as it’s easy to bu99er the thread on the boiler); if you have a drill press, drilling out most of it may be easier.

ETA: if you can insert a knife/screwdriver (or even better a pair of c-clip pliers/thin-nose pliers) under the plug and keep unscrewing, you may be able to remove without drilling - just go easy on the vertical force.

Hello there Again !!

So, couple of months ago my friends & I were working on a mod to lower the max pressure of the evo.

We did 3 mods which all effected the pressure.

1st one was an OPV placed under the group head which set to dispose and pressure above 9 bars. ( Two main springs was installed)

Pros: easy to adjust from 6 – 10.5 bars

Cons: you need to modify the existing cap / lost on water volume which led to fast pressure drop

2nd a spacer for the main spring to add more tension to it ( from 7 – 8 bar) ( only the main “big” spring was installed)

Pros: Bar can be changed based on how many spacers you install.

Cons: more spacers = harder job & dangerous to handle

3rd simply do a new secondary “small” spring

Pro: easy to install reliable results

We are 3 owners and we currently using the last mod and testing the difference in taste, until this moment we are enjoying the 8 bar far more than 10.5 or 6.5 from the stock springs.

Personally, I can say the body is more balanced and shots are much smoother.

Elcarajillo I honestly can’t be sure. Inerted hex key and turned. There is (I think) threadlocker on the ones I have re-sealed (not that it helped prevent leaking). The larger ones all un-screwed and re-screwed as you would expect. The smaller one rotates forever in either direction and moves in and out by 1mm (can get a knife in the gap). At this point not sure how i have got to this point given ive never actually undone the plug, and definitely didn’t exert any particular force. Emphasises the cursed part - this is the 3rd or 4th leak on this boiler since it arrived (including the one that was there when it arrived). I definitely got the Friday build…
