Just to show you how it works, and a warning.

Please do not open a working switch to look inside!

When sat idle the NC and C have a circuit
The main contacts are open

When pressure goes high NO and C have a circuit. The main contacts are closed

If you have adjusted the small screw too far towards minus, clockwise you will close the contact gap completely meaning all 3 contacts are made which you should never do!

Also bear in mind this switch is 240v AC so be careful

I believe from your original video this is what you may have done…….
…… You may need to go more towards the plus side with the larger pressure adjustment screw

I suggest you turn the small screw 2 turns towards plus
And the large screw towards the plus until it starts to work correctly
Then fine tune the large screw.

Be very careful with the small screw.

So I did as you told advised:

And the large screw towards the plus (one full rotation)

There’s no difference.

Again this video shows the issue when I first encountered it so I don’t think my fiddling caused any further damage to the pump. But at the same time I wonder if it just means that the switch was already broken somehow due to some wear and tear?

bradliew I’m at a loss without your machine and a meter in front of me.
As a first stab. If you have and are comfortable with a meter, set to AC volts check voltage between the black and red terminals on top of the stat.
Long probes easily fit inside the insulation of the spade terminals. You should have 220 to 240v.

If you do not have voltage unplug the machine and check resistance or continuity from black to red. Should have virtually zero resistance or continuity. If not the stat at least is faulty.

If you do have the voltage please unplug the machine and check resistance or continuity from black to white. Should have no resistance or have continuity

Please, if you are not comfortable or used to doing this, please don’t.

As with others on this forum it is my job. You know what you are comfortable and competent doing.

bradliew I think you are better off changing the pressure stat.

It’s quite possible in your initial adjustments of the stat, and from memory especially the dead band, you damaged it. I don’t have time to read all the posts, but that’s what I remember.

Mainly the over adjustments I believe you initially made, apologies if you didn’t but it’s become rather a long post to sift through?

…… And this stat was a replacement for a burst one.

Adrianmsmith Original issue is actually the same as you see in the video.

The pump going off non stop trying to find pressure and the intermittent water coming from the grouphead when i pull down the lever.

@LMSC @lmsc I guess in summary, I’ll just ask ACS for a replacement pressure stat switch and I’ll go for the manual version and not the upgraded digital one.

Unfortunately, I am not competent enough to understand this the way you and Dave. While you can guide him on this, he should get a spare in any case and test. :-)

If you use a blind basket or very fine ground coffee do you see any pressure at all …. Thinking along the lines of what Jake is asking you.

do you have any blocked pipes? that doesnt sound right and tou should have alot more water,

how does the pump sound if you drain a load of water out the steam boiler? on refill

Cuprajake This is the video of the pump. Still having issues drawing the water.

In terms of the blocked pipes. I can’t tell if its internal. Because externally, the tubing looks clear to me. Randomly, could this be a descaling issue? Although it feels a bit strange as my coffee water is quite low in minerals (around 40ppm).

Adrianmsmith I took this video for ACS yesterday. This is with my last calibrated coffee.

So when I engage the lever, it has super minimal pressure (just like the intermitten spurts of water). When i release the lever, the pressure build but I’m guessing this is because it just means that the seal is good and the water in the chamber is pressurized).

Adrianmsmith It pulses to refill. At the 6th second here you can actually hear the pump kick in but then it just pulses. At the end of the video, you can see it actually runs out of water and the pump can’t keep up.

The pump shouldn’t pulse to fill the boilers. It should run till full.

Umm could be something else at play.

Hi folks,

I’ve changed my pressure stat today and the machine is not leaking anymore.

However it looks like it doesn’t hold the pressure during pre-infusion stage.

Does anyone have an idea what that might be?

you have water coming out the pf, its not holding pressure, what does it do with coffee in the pf?

That’s not it. It’s the same even if I choke the machine with coffee that is too fine
