Ando The dosing screen on the left hand side of machine (new one) cuts off if low water warning pops on. That doesn’t seem right, is that normal?

Yes it’s normal, mine does it as well. It flashes an alarm signal on the RH Display Panel you may not see.

I have asked for that screen to not blank out in my list of improvements. I was told it was because the little alarm signal on the RHD panel comes on before it blanks out and it shouldn’t be a problem…but I I didn’t like the decision to blank it,

This is because a lever machine once the group is charged with water, is still 100% able to produce a shot…So why blank the screen…ever.. Sure you can still go old school on the shot by pulling the container away, if you notice!

The improvement should be retrofittable. I don’t think it can be done in firmware, which is unfortunate, as it will need the users who want to have the new change I asked for to either move the existing display power wire to an always powered low voltage connector, or replace the wire with a longer one to reach an always powered low voltage connector. (they are of course push on connector plugs).

DavecUK This is kind of what I mean, what other things aren’t quite right with the machine that will come out of the woodwork later on?

It feels like there will be other things I’m unaware of now, but will discover with time. This is just going to lead to further disappointment and frustration.

If customers knew about all these future improvements / upgrades I could then decide whether to purchase now and retrofit or wait for the factory to fit it (no prizes for guessing which option I am choosing) (this is what Decent excel at IMO). Surely that leads to higher customer satisfaction levels?

Most prosumer machines have last shot protection on it - having the dosing feature cutting off looks more like a fault than anything else, weird to make decision to have it like this.

Ando It makes a knocking sound when the lever gets to around parallel on way down, and the same noise on the way back up.

Likewise, IIRC. If they are already sending the top half,
you have this covered.

Please do not over think it. It is easy to lose focus when one thing leads to another.

Note down a list of issues you are experiencing and work your way through as you address them. Shame, given what you have paid. 😊

Your frustration starts to get ahead of you. If you are not happy just quit and dont make a show. Yes, tell us your dissapointments and experience but dont throw tomatoes every 2nd post.

I’m gonna laught hard when you gonna push start on the decent but the machine throws an error message on the tablet and wont start the shot or when you gonna pull but the machine wont stop at desired output cause the scale was disconnected. Espresso is learning, adjusting, observing and improving. If you dont want to be bothered then dont get super machines, get a pump machine with on/off switch, or a bullet proof machine with little components like for eg strietman.

And to give you a realistic perspective on stuff, I can search complains on users who got new machines from La Marzocco, Victoria Arduino, Lelit etc.

Dont take this as offensive, I dont claim that your machine was problem free, I would just gather it up, make 1 or 2 posts about it and call it closed. For every post you make the 2nd one is somehow a frustration post, let us be a tiny bit more mature. This stuff can happen even when you buy an expensive object, like a 50k $ car.

Dec Fair points - I am trying not to be like that but I hear you, I’m obviously coming across poorly.

I have absolutely no intention of buying a Decent for the very reasons you mentioned.

And re plumbing in - if it was easy to do this and get boiler safe water I would do it in a heartbeat. If you have a solution I would love to hear about it.

I’m quite happy with the water I get from claris ultra filter.

To me that is a great solution

As I said. I do not understand how you can use it properly having to keep filling the tank.

My solution was a simple one. Regulate to around 2 or 3 bars (not strictly necessary with this machine, but good practice in my opinion.

Feed in to everpure claris ultra cartridge and out in to the machine with the hose provided. I chose the head with screw fitting connectors

Set the fill probe around 60mm from the bottom of the tank. Change the setting to tell the machine to use the solenoid to fill from the mains.

Make as much coffee and tea as you want. No alarms. No worry.

The great thing with the everpure system is the filter does not need to be vertical so mine lives in the plinth space below the kitchen cupboard.

@Dec I do not have the time or inclination to start blending specific water chemistry when the cartridge does a perfectly good job.

Sorry if that gets people’s backs up but it’s BS and I only hope that even if nobody else here has the balls to say it, that they’re thinking it.

Look, I’m not blaming anyone, things happen, sometimes stuff isn’t perfect, nobody’s at fault but I for one don’t think you’re being unreasonable.

And before anyone attacks me for my choice of machine like last time, I’ve been making espresso at home for 15 odd years and would have been just as frustrated as @ando is whether I’d bought a LM, Lelit, Decent, Gaggia or whatever.

I truly hope you get sorted but more than that I just hope you catch more of a break than you’ve had here. Guy spends 4 grand and basically gets ridiculed for mentioning he’s frustrated…

My life has been garbage the last 6 months or so - I have had a lot going on that folk here will never know about. So I would appreciate a little slack.

ACS know about what happened - and I am really hopeful that they will do the right thing here and let me return the machine.

Have you let them know you want to return the machine, as from what I gather from the postings, they might think you want parts sent to them because they will most likely be sending them ASAP?

I’ve pretty much stayed out of this, but after my machine and the feedback I gave I had hoped all this would have been sorted, it’s a shame to see another machine come out and still not be right.

Esp when it has the issues mine had.

It’s a hell of a lot of money and you should not have to be fitting parts within the first few days to resolve stuff that should have been picked up on before shipping.

It’s not fair.

Having gone through this with more than one machine from various manufacturers. I can tell you it’s gut wrenching, makes you sick to your stomach.

DavecUK They offered to send stuff out on Monday - I have told them I would like to just go for a refund. I’m not ever going to be able to enjoy this machine, just far too many faults straight out the box.

For the high price I just can’t accept this. There are also the factors in my personal life I am alluding to - if you speak to Maria she will tell you as I told her about them when I was apologising if u had come across as rude (in response to Paulo’s message here) . I really d can’t handle additional stress in my life just now

I also have granite worktops .

The filter is under the cupboard . I have not drilled the granite.

The drain for the tray also goes through the back of the cupboard and through the wall to the washing machine drain.

The one negative point of all this is with the synchronika it was on the end it the worktop so nothing was seen. Due to the lever the Evo can’t be on the end or it would interfere with opening cupboard doors.

I plan on moving the cupboards to the opposite wall so the machine can live on the end of the worktop once more, some day 😎

I found this solution as there’s no way I could enjoy any machine (starting with the synchronika) whilst having to check and fill the tank and empty the tray. It would be worse than having a car I’d have to stop and charge at a convenient location every 300 miles 🤬

I clean the tank and tray every couple of weeks which is far too much maintenance 😎😀☕

On a side note people complain about the Craig lyn grinder being difficult to grind with.

Not with granite worktops. It sits solid. I do not even have the side handle fitted now. And it is slightly quicker than my niche duo to grind

It is fair that a buyer expects an expensive machine to work perfectly out of the box with all the bells and whistles finished to perfection. Perfection is relative. If it doesn’t meet the expectations, either the buyer allows the seller to fix it or draw a line and return. It’s between the buyer and the seller.

In Ando’s case, I am glad he spelt his problems freely, although I would not care about those 3 minor issues. The other issues are not minor and must be fixed, though it is a shame a machine barely days old have had these problems. I also appreciate and welcome the openess of ACS acknowledging the issues. It is under warranty and they are doing the right thing by rushing parts. It is a shame he is returning the machine. I hope he turns a corner what ever is happening in his personal life. We wish him well.

The downside of incidents like these are the costs the seller incurs. It will hurt especially, if it is a small business. Of course, it can hurt the sellers’ (any seller’s ) bottom line, if incidents like these happen at regular intervals

In the very best interests of ACS, I am confident they will well to put the machines through additional and/or extended QC before sending them off. Dave is the right man to note and suggest fixes for all the issues including all the minor niggles / imperfections. The risk is it might push up the costs and waiting time. Well, that’s the price the buyers will have to pay.

LMSC Please stop defending them like this - you come across as a really nice chap, and I know u and others are very happy with their machines - but it’s painful having to listen to this constant defending at a time like this.

Once they accept fault fully and refund me this can happen - the line gets drawn and I move on with my life. I won’t dwell on this and I won’t chime in on ACS threads being all negative - I will move on completely and won’t mention it again.

I haven’t slept a wink all night as I am so stressed by all of this.

I have been made out to be a complete turkey earlier in the week on this forum - and all the while there are people well established within this forum who I suspect have known exactly what is wrong with my machine and have, in my opinion, tried to cover it up - trying to take advantage of my lack of mechanical knowledge and ability. They have spent more time trying to protect the ACS brand rather than help me.

The drip tray is leaking - that was last nights discovery - well there is puddles of water forming under the drip tray - so I think it is safe to assume I now know why there is no LED light under there! A minor issue now becomes a major issue - I was right to highlight this. Was I fobbed off about the scratches issue as well? And should the drip tray rattle?

To think that I felt really bad receiving a refund for that part as well - can you actually believe that!? It makes me feel sick that I have had the wool pulled over me like this.

Nobody has commented on the video that was requested - before doing so I was being made out to be overreacting, it’s impossible for that to happen, don’t be ridiculous - well it is a problem isn’t it!? I wasn’t overreacting was I!?

The safety sleeve I had to remove was a serious struggle to remove - way way way harder than ACS video made out. It is covered an inch thick in lube all over - I suspect there is a bigger issue with that than meets the eye. Only small amount of lube covering seals is required - no? This popped into my head through the night - fun times.

I’m not going to add anything to this until it’s resolved - and I’m unlikely to find any more faults as I’m away today for weekend and weekend have turned machine off and have no intention of using it again.

Let me leave with this thought though - if this was happening to me with another popular lever machine brand (*coughs, pinned threads) - do we think the tone and response on this thread would have been the same, or very different? 🤔
