Hi All! This is a great thread filled with tons of awesome info! I recently joined, and was expecting my first post to be about how I love my Evo Leva after having recently bought what I would call a “floor model” (eg gently used by a distributor here in the US), and perhaps discussing various mods I plan, but instead have found a leak! I was hoping I could get some expert eyes/experience from those on this forum.
The leak is above what looks like a solenoid valve, at the fitting between the valve plenum body and the pipe going to the boiler. It only leaks when the boiler is filling. I don’t think it was leaking before, so it’s a bit suspicious, but maybe thermal cycling played a part.
Does anybody know anything about this fitting? Is it standard tapered threads? Is it o-ring sealed? I could always remove it, re-apply some pipe dope (or replace the o-ring if applicable), and re-tighten but boy does the brass around this fitting look thin! I’m worried about the removal process and over-tightening, consequently cracking the whole plenum and being down for a lot longer….
I have attached a picture of the problem fitting - you can see the green corrosion from the water. It is not a slow drip - there is a constant dribble flowing out when the boiler is filling
Any help here would be much appreciated, then once this is past I can get on to the more exciting discussions about improvements and delicious shots.
