@LMSC - back again - hectic work combined with some cleaning of the old duetto before sending to new owner = overload! As a side node the endoscope arrived and is very useful for looking inside boilers - was able to see the element clearly in video and take photos. Slightly feeling sellers remorse as new owner got a bargain, and I’ve got no coffee machine in the office till the aros arrives later in the year!
Anyway the tap finally arrived, took longer than expected and seemed bigger than expected (in my mind at least).
Have the quick fit connector (loads if spare thread so likely to stick out but the hose fits easily so nice easy way to drain).
Waiting to hear more from @paolo before proceeding.
Also worth mentioning that the 330ml syringe with pipe arrived which I used to clean the duetto. I took off the PID sensor for both boilers then drained via syringe and used the opportunity to examine with endoscope - before and after pic below. Much more rewarding to see the results of a good descale!
The second half of extracted water was muddy brown, so cleaning out the brew boiler every so often seems justified.
[Edit] @LMSC - forgot to say - based on your pics I’d say detach the silicone tube from the tray and then leave the T-junction piece with pipe all connected and lift out in entirety with the boiler. Once out it’s not particularly heavy and you can just pour out the water into the sink (using the long pipe as a spout like a fellow kettle). Then you can place the whole unit on a surface as the insulation acts as a cushion. A good question would be which bung to undo and the force required. Part of me leaning towards just using large syringe, pipe and [optional - endoscope]. My process was (one boiler at a time).
- Machine off
- Undo PID sensor
- Suck out water
- Add descaler solution/citric acid
- Replace PID
- Turn on and let boilers heat to speed reaction
- Undo PID
- Suck out solution
- Add water (optional but means element is not bare while water is pumped in particularly if e.g. two empty boilers to fill…
- Replace pid
