@DavecUK I am not quite I am at the level that I need a complete auto tamper gadget :) - though good to know they are available at reasonable costs. My issue is more of technique and keeping the puck level/horizontal - hence the thinking of a self-leveling one (which helped me with my 58mm baskets)

@Cuprajake - the Bravo Tampers seem to be like unicorn teeth - can’t seem to find them anywhere (but TBF, not looked very hard yet)

@Inspirado I will certainly look at the EasyTamp range, but to be honest I didn’t want to spend a pretty penny on the tamper - and I am guessing shipping to the UK won’t be cheap

I think I really just need to work on improving my technnique than trying to find a gadget solution - BUT, I do need a tamper that will fit the IMS 26m basket - that is still proving to be a challange, as most 54mm are actually 53.3-53.5mm leaving quite a gap around edges

This is perfect for the acs basket and very slightly loose in IMS but close enough…..

i ordered the IMS basket from them - it took around 23 days! using std delivery. perhaps there was bank holiday somewhere in the middle of that.

Has anyone played with the temperature settings recommended in the manual? Right now I’m at 88 and 96 - I do mostly medium roast to light/med. Is there writeups anywhere regarding this 8 degree difference, and the need for it? Just trying to understand. I assume it has to do with temp loss from one area to the next and normalizing temps - but will google around.

So far so great. Been loving this machine thus far!

According to the instructions:

the stable temperature difference is 8 degrees,

the heating effect is set to less than 8 degrees,

and the cooling effect is set to exceed 8 degrees.

The heating effect is suitable for light roast coffee.

92/96 or 92/98 for light roast

pull them 17g in to 43g out i used a ims comp basket

i still have a soft spot for the evo, its a shame it didnt work out

Hey there, I haven’t posted for a bit. My machine was running well but another issue is cropping up. Hoping I can get some suggestions.

I have been noticing a hissing coming from one of the steam boiler fittings. It’s not a lot but it is noticeable to me and not the regular behavior.

Any suggestions on how to narrow down which fitting is leaking steam? I thought maybe a drop of oil around them and see if it bubbles? Water/soap won’t work because the surfaces are too hot. I cannot determine it just by ear it’s frustrating.

I just came back from a vacation and noticed that the plastic hose around the cable for the water level probe isn’t connected to the end:

I tried fitting it back on for a few seconds, but failed (it also looks pretty impossible to do tbh, unless there’s some sort of adhesive involved to keep it in place).

Does this look normal to you, or is it any cause for concern? I suppose the hose could just be there to add “stiffness” to guarantee that the probe is somewhere lower in the tank?

Its just mechanical protection for the wires 😎

If you are not plumbed in it needs to be 10mm above bottom of tank

If you are plumbed in, 40mm

rxmnt It just adds protection and stiffness so it stays at the bottom of the tank instead of floating.

And yes, I actually went to the World of Coffee in Copenhagen, but missed most of it because I was busy eating delicious pastry and hot dogs, as well as visiting lots of fancy specialty coffee places and reaffirming my fear that I might be a basic bitch dark roast enjoyer.
