A couple of things I would be keen to try some time would be, provided they are not expensive and worth the time, effort and cost :
a quieter pump and an upgraded version of PID, if there is one, for the brew boiler.
We are actually nit-picking these two mods. Compared to the pump mod (as the noise doesn’t bother me), the brew boiler PID would be my top pick. Why?
Because, my brew boiler PID isn’t as stable as I would like. I have made plenty of tweaks, starting from default values many times. I haven’t found the zone yet, although they are significantly better than it used to be. I have stopped fiddling with it
One example: pulled the first shot 50 mins after starting the machine from cold this am. The brew boiler was 2.5C higher from the set point. Waited for more than 3 mins for it drop closer to the set point before pulling a shot. The thing with this overshot in my case is it has an overshoot range of 1C to 3C depending on where the set point is. I find this strange.
I know there is only so much the PIDs can probably do. The best part of the Evo is we know where the boiler and group temps are! I think the Evo has spoiled me! 😊
