MediumRoastSteam thanks. For the weekly routine, should I pop out the screen and clean it first or do the backflush with water first?
also, do you recommend doing a flushing cycle everyday before shutting it down?

Knluk - I’d say yes, do remove the screen and clean it before you backflushing with water routine. When I had my e61, I dropped the screen every 3 days - I’d rather drink from a clean machine, and this is such an easy task.
As for the flushing cycle before shut down - if you mean back flush cycle, we’ve already answered that question 4 or 5 posts above. 😉👍. If you mean just flush water through the group, I always do a group rinse (for 2 seconds) after I finish making coffee for that session. I also clean the shower screen and around it with a piece of cloth, or a brush, or a piece of wet kitchen towel.
You’ll soon figure those things out. It’s better not to let stale and baked coffee build around. Best to keep things clean.
I think i may be overdoing it by back flushing with water every day. Do you recommend three 10 second water back flushes once a week or would every other day be ok?
coffeealex - backflush with water once a week as previously discussed.
MediumRoastSteam yes. I mean just flushing the group with water.

There’s no harm in doing that. The issue here is the unnecessary wastage of bottled water.
Yep, exactly like @MediumRoastSteam said, just a weekly backflush in addition to your cleaning plan there @Knluk
If you wanted to avoid the daily screen wipe you could run a couple of seconds without the portafilter in which should rinse any coffee off the screen.
I just want to summarise my understanding below:
1/ after every shot:
2/ After every session:
flush screen with water for 2sec
Wash PF and basket with water only
3/ Week:
Pop the screen out for soaking and cleaning with soap
Back flush with water only
Every month:
Every 3 month:
Back flushing with puly caff
Lubricate E61 Group Head Cam with Dow Corning Molycote 111
Use a cocktail stick and work some molykote onto the upper part of the ball joint and move the wand around
Every 6 month:
Lubricate Steam Ball Joint (brass cup) and inspect O-rings
Lubricate Paddle Mechanism/O-Rings with Dow Corning Molycote 111
am I missing anything? On the other hand, can I reduce the frequency of some of the tasks? Esp for the MONTHLY renew of boiler water for 3 times x 1.5 litre water. Isn’t it a bit too much of waste of water? I need to understand how much water is used for back flushing with water, but seems it will be a bit much for doing it weekly(?)
I think you can skip the wipe of the screen. I’ve never done that on any machine.
I also don’t think you need to rinse the PF and basket each day, especially if you’re using a bottomless. I use spouted and only wash it properly once a week.
I once had a Sicilian girlfriend with an ancient Moka pot and she swore by just rinsing it occasionally as the oils improved the flavour. I’m not sure if that’s true but I learned not to argue with her 😅
I don’t find washing the PF every day has any noticeable effect on taste although I might run a shot of water through it if a puck didn’t come out clean.
As for the other parts of your schedule I think it looks good.
You could pulycaff the PF and basket once a month and rinse well if you’re using spouted, just to keep it clean.
With the boiler, im not sure whether it helps but I tend to run a couple hundred ml through the hot water spout once a week.
LMSC I only said the WDT as a part of the workflow is boring as far as I’m concerned!
Is that in contrast to the rest of the espresso workflow (grinding, weighing, loading the portafilter, cleaning etc.) that you find interesting? 😂
I’m with MediumRoastSteam on this: I mix the coffee in the basket because I find it reduces the chances of channelling, although I get little intellectual stimulation from the actual act. ;-)
Ernie1 my machine doesn’t appear to have come with a guide, is it available online? I’ve emailed Bella Barista to ask about it but I’m not sure i should be commissioning the machines without reading and understanding Daves wisdom!
I didnt get any guide with mine just a very basic manual.
I might chase BB too.
The machine did come from Bella Barista and the website states that one is included. I did email them and have had a response now stating the following:
“We aren’t including our guides with the bianca anymore as it’s too outdated. The machine you’ve received is V3 I believe and the guide is based on v1. There have been changes made between those models and so the guide wouldn’t be overly helpful unfortunately.”
A little frustrating that it’s still advertised on the website as included.
I wondered if that would be the case. I think a lot of it should still be relevant.
I passed mine on with the machine when I sold it but I remember there was a lot of great info around first setup, maintenance and some profiling shot types.
Cuprajake thank you for the videos :) Incredibly helpful!
cjbailey1 Don’t know if this is any help (and/or you already have it): https://links.imagerelay.com/cdn/2615/ql/b7cbd65abfbe4b5e98ecb800a0a9c6e4/LELIT_BIANCA_USER_MANUAL.PDF

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. There’s now enough information on the internet and here, and lelit insider about the machine which is very helpful.
Bella Barista does a really bad job in keeping the content of their website up to date, fresh and relevant. Take a look at this for instance (picked at random):
It’s about the new ECM Mechanika VI.
Scroll down and read the “What’s included” Section.
If you go by that, you’d be getting the older model, the Mechanika V.
