ooglewoogle Hey bud! - Im feeling much better now, only the lingering cough thats more annoying than anything else!
Things at the roastery are going well thanks, growing slowly and steadily thankfully, I noticed a drop in retail sales for a couple months after the PM change as every day was another doom and gloom news report, so I can only assume a combination of people were being cautious with their spending understandably and we had a slight drought in new coffees to launch which is now over and we’re expecting to launch 2 x coffees a month for the next ¾ months. I’m definitely being more cautious and conscious on how we’re buying, the £/$ thing is a nightmare across the board for all coffee buyers, I’m monitoring it daily and seeing what happens but realistically there’s nothing we can actually do about it, so I just have to roll with it for the time being and hope it recovers over time!
Currently everythings so uncertain in the UK that I feel like the only approach I can have is to just keep moving forward as I normally would and weather the storm the best we can, we opened 3 months before the Pandemic and things have remained uncertain since day 1! - luckily being such a small operation here overheads are really low in comparison to roasteries with 20/30+ members of staff and huge overheads, so I can focus on growing and doing what I love without being massively impacted!
With a little bit of good luck and plenty of hard work I’m sure we will work our way through it and come out stronger and more knowledgable the other end!
