Having the option to fill quickly potentially allows for faster application of high pressure, which is a method I use for a certain med-dark coffee I roast at home. Pulling the shot with that approach allows me to grind coarser and get a sweeter brew. It’s just one of the shot styles I use, though - I roast ultra-light all the way to med-dark, so employ different styles for them. It’s good to have options.
