So I saw a thread on here about water, and got to thinking bar the convenience of a top side counter how expensive making water could be.

So here’s a basic system

https://www.finest-filters.co.uk/50gpd-4-stage-complete-ro-reverse-osmosis-unit/

This is a 4 stage filter system,

Particle filter

Carbon filter

Membrane

Deionizing chamber

All parts replaceable

This system does 50gallons per day, and depending on your water will last months and months even a years

Now you can tap into a water supply in say the garage, or under your sink, you can even work it from a tap with a specific connector.

You can have add ons to the system like an online tds meter, to show when your filter needs replacing.

The water out of this is the perfect starting block for non scaling coffee.

Me personally I use potassium bicarbonate

10g per 1litre of pure water, this makes a concentration, which is then used in the espresso water at a rate of 10mls per litre.

I’m hoping this helps a few people out

Cheers jake

I would be interested to know, what the filter change interval is, and for what water hardness.

Me too, I wouldn’t have space to plumb this in but if you could use it to just make a few litres at at time from a tap then it might be easier than buying bottled water and take up less space than a dedicated RO machine

I ve gone about a year before changing the membrane and I do a 6 month change of the filters.

In that time I’ve never seen any tds on the output.

My in is around 70tds

Jake how many liters of waste water this produces to make 1 liter of water? I couldn’t find it on the web page.

I think about 3l for one good litre from memory

Forgot to say I have a flush valve too.

It’s just another option to costly systems
