Bagged myself a Mythos on a bit of a whim! Not Dfks unfortunately, our respective locations meant that was not possible.

But I managed to find one needing repair and missing a couple of parts, hopper and grinds catch tray. I know hoppers aren’t cheap, but took a punt on it anyway out of pure curiosity.

So it arrived yesterday evening and I got to work straight away to identify what was wrong with it, seller stated an electrical issue, upon powering it on I confirmed it was not getting any power. When I turned it over to access the internals I spotted damage to the power cord, testing with a multi meter confirmed there was a break in the live wire.

Cut out the damaged section and re-connected, held down the hopper button and voila…we have life!

~56hrs run time, seems reasonable for a commercial grinder like this?

It cleaned up ok so far, but was pretty filthy to begin with. Still need some offset spanners in order to remove the lower burr carrier, but I’ll order up some tools and should be in there in no time.

Dosing button is a bit sticky, likely needs a clean, but worst case I can replace.

Burrs look ok to me? Any signs here that would suggest they need replacing?

One thing I am struggling with is the tamper base, I cannot unscrew it in order to access the circlip and remove the shaft for cleaning and lubing. Any tips? I am tempted to soak in a hot cafiza solution to try and soften any coffee oils that could be holding it together.

Awaiting delivery of a drip tray and a low profile hopper! Then we can what everyone has been shouting about over the years, I love my Specialita, so ofc I needed the big boy version!
