dfk41 Doram Why? It is called the Duo as its main feature is that you can swap 83mm burrs between brew methods! If you compare any conical grinder to any flat grinder, before the testing is done I am pretty certain that you could guess the outcome! The Duo is not to replace the Zero but to compliment it. I conduct some testing, one versus the other. It will not be scientific testing, just my very humble opinion! Whilst equally as valid as the next mans opinion, does it have any value?
However, if you wanted to visit either, Dave, Jake or myself, we all have both grinders……test away matey
Thanks. I appreciate that they call it Duo, but I’m sure plenty of people (like myself) would be also interested in espresso performance of the grinder. If someone has a Zero, and many do, they might want to know if they should consider an upgrade and what they will get if they do.
I never had a flat burr grinder. True, I can guess the outcome based on the common conception of what I have read (flats give more clarity, more separation, less mouthfeel… I’m not sure what all this means exactly, but okay).
However, it would be interesting to know the experience of someone who actually had coffee from both grinders. It doesn’t have to be scientific, of course it’s subjective, but I would still like to hear what those who tried the product think: is it an amazing difference worth every penny (and what exactly is this difference)? Is it a subtle difference that is only apparent on the lightest of roasts? Would it be very clear in a blind tasting which shot came from which grinder (and how they describe that different?); or, would a blind taster find it very difficult to separate the two grinders and the main advantage of the Duo will be for people who swap burrs and drink filter every day?; or maybe something completely different?
Yes, I can guess, but that would be a bit useless without trying the grinder. Personally I would prefer to hear from someone who did try it. :)
