DavecUK Although the varietal is same, I am thinking the origin (country and location), producer, process and grade may be the reason for the price differences.
Example: TePuy is a Colombian Washed Coffee. The producer Sergio Londoño from Risaralda.
Sudan Rume Natural from another roaster is from Cafe Granja from the farm Las Margaritas, priced at £18 for 180g. The same Sudan Rume Cafe Granja semi-washed assisted fermentation is being sold at £60 per 200g by another roaster.
Likewise, Fika’s Edinson competition lot SL28 yeast inoculated process is £19 per 250g. The same producer’s natural processed coffee is £31.00 from another roaster.
I wonder why such a price difference? Apart from the producer and the process, the importer (wholesale dealer) from whom the roasters may purchase coffee may be a contributing factor.
It is what it is! There is a market for every one. :-)
Edit:
In blind tasting, we can’t tell them apart, can we?
Coffee prices have gone through the roof and we are also seeing 200g becoming the norm than 250g.
