Well after 5kg of light to medium beans I have finally found a bean that stalls my Niche zero, multiple times over 20g. It’s a light roast geisha from django. Normally turning it off and on gets it moving but a few times I’ve had to turn it upside down and use something to dislodge the jammed bean.
However contrary to advice I’ve seen removing the anti popcorn disk actually helped. It allowed the beans to jump out more with less beans at any point in the burrs and it runs smoothly now.
I’ll replace the disk after this batch of beans is used up.

Mainly here for anyone searching for help on similar issue.

Django have the hardest beans I’ve ever come across!

I just looked at Django and unfortunately those beans were not on sale. Saying that, over the past 5 years!!!!!! with the Niche, I’ve ground pretty much all sorts through, and it never ever skipped a beat. I mainly drink light roasted coffee, and have definitely ground some pretty hard stuff there, like some Costa Rican SHB (Strictly Hard Bean). Saying that, I’ve heard a few other people complaining of the grinder stalling. One person in particular at the time reported the issue to Niche. The motor was replaced and the problem went away.

MediumRoastSteam It was part of their Rare and Unique subscription. This was their first Geisha and was a cup score of 88.5. A very interesting coffee and some unusual flavours and glad to have tried it. Would I buy it again? Probably not, maybe as an occasional filter but not as my daily espresso bean.
