Apart the discussion if even the original was a efficient tool, Weber prices are not for all, my main concern is about it’s safety, considering that at around 10 bars the load that the lips/structure must support are around 250kg.

I just saw such item is already arrived in Thailand, not interested at all in the object, but i have a concern, as i wrote above, about safety.

Any thoughts?

I fail to see why anyone need this while a simple blind basket is cheap, proven and effective solution?

as the copycat is produced by someone that have little to no regard to IP protection, I’d assume they don’t put a lot thoughts on safety. good luck trying to sue them if things go wrong

I don’t think having a plastic container with a metal spring is particularly safe. I have posted about the Weber spring clean before though. Basically it’s a waste of time and won’t clean the group as well as traditional backflushing done correctly. Just another Weber marketing product.

Why it cannot work correctly

  • Backflushing doesn’t use all the cleaner in the portafilter 1st flush
  • Is more concentrated as there is not much water in the PF
  • The pressurised water is best eased out slowly when the lever is lowered
  • there needs to be some dwell time of concentrated cleaner before the next backflush is made

The thing is a complete waste of time.

Yes, absolutely, i agree it’s a useless accessory, my main concern is about that could be even dangerous.

What could happen if this accessory fall on the floor and how really strong is the “plastic”, i means, if this object get a crack, could explode during the backflushing.
