That’s a potential can of worms! Gotta be careful what I say here before people start throwing their internet data sheets at me.
Firstly, I didn’t really use profiling. It was a novelty to start with but I just didn’t bother with it 99% of the time. I always say if you want the opportunity to get the very best out of every coffee through profiled extraction, then a lever or MP E61 (or Decent) is going to win over the LM every time.
I prefer the LM in the cup. The thing with the LM is that it has amazing intra-shot temperature stability. A lot of people think temperature stability refers to per-shot stability, like with a Silvia how you have to surf the boiler to get consistently good extractions. Or how good a machine is at making back to back shots.
But obviously how consistent the temperature stays during the shot is also crucial and (and pitchforks at the ready) I don’t think the E61 is as good as the LM (sort of saturated group) at this.
I’m basing this on the many shots I’ve had from both, and there was a period of crossover where I had them side by side.
Aside from that, I just really like using it. Having had full-size Lineas in offices I’ve worked in over the years, the Mini really does feel like a small version of that.
