Yeah I tried it out of curiosity and it does appear to be better with the included cup.
Iāve read that the plate the cup sits on is classed removable/replaceable so when it inevitably gets covered in scratches, it can be replaced easily at a low cost. I donāt know thatās as effective as an ion generator but my experiences with those arenāt great really.
I guess due to the sheer number of 64mm flats that get churned out these days theyāre all met with a level of cynicism but I do think Mazzer have thought this grinder through pretty well and the more you use it the more you realise itās touches like the above that go some ways towards the enjoyment of use and ownership.
Iāve seen a few mentions of the zero point being off too and I think Mazzer could do with including a card in the box saying itās deliberately 5-10 clicks above chirp. A lot of people getting their grinder and saying āmine wasnāt set up right out of the box because chirp wasnāt zeroā but Mazzer have confirmed thatās intentional.
Of course if itās not grinding fine enough at zero fair enough, but I havenāt gone below 20 yet on light roasts and my zero isnāt chirping.
