Hello all I need some guidance.  After reading the many posts and threads here I am about ready to purchase a grinder and have it narrowed down to the Niche Zero and the Duo with the espresso burr only.   I drink normally 2-3 shots a day about half of these are milk based.   I use mostly traditional roast espresso, medium to dark roast only, and never grind light roast or Nordic style beans. I have ruled out all other grinders and want to go with niche for the build quality and workflow.  I currently have a Jx pro, conical, grinder that has served me well after many years.

Which leads me to this question which grinder would you recommend between these two?

Lars Which leads me to this question which grinder would you recommend between these two?

I would personally recommend the Duo out of the two. It’s only about £100 more I think and would give you so much more flexibility as well as being a very large flat burr, and little need to upgrade. Workflow is as good as the Zero.

duo for me also, never been a fan of the zero, and its more versatile with beans should you go down that route.

For the description you give us, the Zero all the way. I have both and am also lucky enough to have an uncltured palate! When drinking medium/plus beans (I only drink blends as whenever I drink SO beans I instantly regret it as I cannot pick out the differing notes and tastes) I much prefer the slightly more raw taste from the Zero. Of course this is my opinion. What matters is your opinion. If you imagine cowboys sitting round the camp fire, I like that sort of coffee. If you state your location, then possibly an owner might come forward and help you, though I suspect that you are not UK based!

    Lars Two things:

    • If you are one of those guys who would like to drink a good cup without worrying about notes, texture, clarity in your roast profile, then Zero. How important are they to you?
    • Taste and preferences can change! It might happen to you. So, the Duo is a safe bet, if you do not mind spending £100 more.

I have never owned a zero. I had JX pro for 2.5 years and got the Duo dual burrs set. Having said that, I drink filter most of the time. 😊

I have a zero and love it. It has the Mazzer-Kony conical commercial burrs in it, which is what you are likely used to if you get espresso in your local cafe. Most of the cafes around here seem to have those. It is very easy to dial in and use. If that is your palate, then by all means the zero.

I want to thank everyone who replied to my post!  The insight and detail provided helped me so much in making an informed decision.  This truly is the friendliest forum I have been a part of, thanks again

Lars and the winner is … drum roll …. [insert answer here]

(Which one did you decide on?)

I do think the Duo is superior.
        Why ? …. Because I own one. 🤙
