Sham There are plenty (and that is an understatement) of Chinese grinders and they can be from very bad to very good. This one is tested and recommended by @DavecUK and that is not something to sneeze at. We hyped for a reason, too bad the grinder itself didn’t fly because of reasons not related to its quality

delta76 honestly there’s a few other good ones on AliExpress that if Dave tested would be as good as this one, but much cheaper as it’s directly from the source. Of course you trade price with lackluster customer support, but I’d rather not pay a ‘middle-man’ fee if I don’t have to.

Sham show me one that could be as good, but cheaper. 459 GBP was with SSP burr which is worth 180 GBP alone

This one’s pretty good, albeit no speed control. I got this one for cheap, it comes with two copy SSP burrs for filter and espresso. Also here’s the exact grinder as the T64, price isn’t great but likely cheaper on Alibaba…

dfk41 Because I have one… also the exact one from this thread is on AliExpress.

Sham So, you base these Chinese grinders advertised on a Chinese website as being good simply because you have one? Are you an engineer? Have you conducted any meaningful tests that I ought to see so I can or cannot draw the same conclusions? If you are not the sort of person who values ‘middle man’ customer service then I hope that you get many years decent service out of your purchase……..of course there is a caveat……I think more people are going to take note of a recommendation made by @DavecUK after a period of testing and use than what would appear to be your questionable recommendation but hey ho!

dfk41 I say it’s good because it grinds well for the price… I thought that would be obvious. Also yes I am an engineer (bachelors in mechanical and a PhD in manufacturing). Of course I appreciate someone’s opinion who has tested a product, but that wasn’t the point I was making. The point was that everyone’s focusing on this ONE Chinese grinder because Dave has tested it, and STILL saying other Chinese grinders are not good (when in fact this is merely a Chinese grinder that BB thought they could make some £$ reselling).

Sham My understanding of the situation, and I might well be wrong, was that BB as they often do, asked Dave if they could send him a grinder. He normally says yes but within a couple of hours knows whether it is going to bring anything new to the table. This time Dave sent feedback to the firm and they were impressed enough to immediately implement. Am I saying that the Dave factor is worth anything additional…….yep………there must be dozens of coffee manufacturers out there who would wish they could persuade him to help them with their project…..when I say help I should really say unpaid help since Dave does not charge these firms anything for the work he does…….so there is a plethora of bad Chinese grinders, some of which Dave has seen and others he has not. There are also some success stories. Can you blame BB for trying to find products not stocked by the other usual coffee retailers? I suspect though have no proof that they do not bother with a lot more than they do….

Partly right….I’m sure there are some Chinese grinders that are good, and of course many that are not.

Your second point about BB really isn’t right at all. There are multiple reasons for Rodney wanting to bring this in and the primary driver isn’t to make some $ reselling, it’s a driver of course…but there’s a lot more to it than that.

Also Rodney loves to find new, good products and he is good at it..

Sham Dave tested this one, he likes it and thinks it’s a great performance/price choice. What’s wrong with that? Does he have to test every single Chinese grinder out there to make a recommendation?
I did not recall Dave said anything about Chinese grinders in general. He only compared this to the ones he used, Chinese or not.

delta76 Well we will soon know, because they will arrive at the end of the month, and shortly after, be in a few members hands.

Unlike an influencer, I don’t recommend then do a SUMO, I’m still here and have to face up to my recommendations! I don’t say “this is what I think”, but I would love to know what you think in the comments below (then never read them)…please like and subscribe.

DavecUK is it better than the duo please, I don’t mean better as in better more a more sensible buy, is the build quality okay, are the brushes easy to change in the motor, is there much retention and does it produce a clear unmuddled drink please. I am after a difference from my NZ and I would like a duo but would the T64 be a better first step?

Teaboy could you at least define “better” and be more specific, otherwise the answer may as well end up being 42.

I see you did an edit!

Teaboy is it better than the duo please

Is the Duo better than the Zero? Maybe. But for some of us, there’s not much difference in the overall taste in the cup.

So is the T64 better than the Duo? Maybe. But you’ll never know… until you try it out yourself.

I try not to do taste comparisons, especially with grinders subject to different people, tastes, coffees etc..

It produces nice coffee, as I said in probably my first post, there isn’t much retention and if you watch my unedited videos, you can see how I grind on the lowest speed and then speed the grinder up to get the remaining coffee out after grinding as I don’t like to use the bellows.

It’s a well made thing and I understand will be coming with SSP HU burrs….which you may or may not like?

P.S. I always think it’s important to see an unedited video no music, with the entire end to end grind process and shot produced. I tend to think if that can’t be done easily and reliably, then perhaps the grinder isn’t consistent, loud or takes much longer to grind than you think.

DavecUK Thank you Dave, I appreciate your views and and the way you conduct your videos, a beacon in a storm of overproduced clickbate.

So I spoke to Bella Batista earlier. Apparently they are expecting the shipment very soon and hopefully should be sending out notification emails towards the end of next week.

dutchy101 thanks for the update, that’s good to hear. Can’t wait. Until then, grind finerer ☕🫣
