Will be comparing to duo asap .
First impressions are good. Hated the df83 for reasons difficult to write about . I guess we could call the df83 purchase a J experience. (If you need to ask you won’t get it)
Very nice “fluffy” grinds but I guess that’s the burrs not just the grinder.
For whatever reason, as documented by @DavecUK I agree the static produced is very low. Not used enough yet to comment on consistency but it’s looking good. Similar static to the df83 after the ion kit was added.
I added molykote to the threads to add a bit of resistance / damping as it was too easy to nudge whilst using the bellow, and a little too much play with dry threads, having a larger than anticipated thread pitch.
I do notice a slight initial coffee release when bellow is initially pressed which I guess is cling releasing from around the declumper. Were not talking about grams here or even .1g. There’s a little coffee cling if you remove the magnetically attached exit chute but nothing of note.
I also note the relatively large thread pitch used compared to other grinders and therefore a larger than expected shift in the burrs using the bellow (heavily). Very evident with chirping if you adjust to near zero and press the bellow. Doesn’t seem to make dialling in difficult so micron adjustment seems acceptable.
Not sure yet how much difference this will make to repeatability of grind. Does seem repeatable.
As someone has said a few times “it’s a grinder” it seems to grind well for home use / it’s intended use case. Sometimes I do think there’s too much data analysis!
Not sure yet if it will become the decaf grinder and I will reclaim the duo. ☕
