I know this’ll not matter to a lot of you or you may say not needed, but noticed today while dialing in my grinder, I wasted a lot of time weighing beans. I’d prefer to weight a portion out when I had time and store for a day while dialing in or making a few coffees.

Do like the look of the wooden stands and test tubes. But not paying Webbers silly prices.

Anyone have a decent link to correct sizes for 18g of beans as keep seeing numerous sized tubes and unsure of what would suit me best

🙏

Defiantly not the prettiest option….. but 50ml Falcon tubes hold 18-20g pretty snugly.

    I use these sterifeed 50ml bottles. https://amzn.eu/d/8Os9chX

They hold 18+ grams. I use them at home and when travelling to feed my Aeropress

I’ve got a few of the Commandante bean jars although I stopped weighing out doses when I started having a few different coffees in rotation.

I tend to just weigh from the bag when I’m making coffee now.

One nice feature of the Philos with the little ‘gate’ on the hopper is that you can weigh out a dose, drop it in the hopper and open the gate, then close it and drop a second dose in so you can weigh out two coffees before you start grinding and the second dose is ready to grind. Handy if you’re making more than one coffee.

Yorkie_Al seen these but nowhere to store so fancied something with a base as be on counter/shelf.

You could cut holes into a piece of wood to hold the bottles.
They are a good size, I’ve got loads of them and have repurposed them as coffee storage

You could also get cheap options from ali express. They all probably are made in China anyway so may as well go to the source

Will check them out, thanks. Worked out that 50ml is the size I’ll need 👌

I used to single dose, till the Weber dosing tubes I had broke the seals.

For me, it takes 30s to weigh the beans, I can deal with that.

I have airscape but I keep a few days worth of the Mrs beans in there. My beans are just in the bags sealed and I pick and choose.

Ah cool David. Not sure what it is though as aliexpress is popping up on that link.

Have beans on way andorderinga couple of those airscape jars, they’re a great idea mate.

Be over to return your beans and jar pal, really appreciate that.

              Happy new year 🎉🎉🎉

Cuprajake going from my dual boiler and mythos to Gaggia and DF64, everything seems to take an age.

Loved the fact the Mythos was timed dose so didn’t have the faff of weighing beans

I bought some from Etsy for about £20 including stand and funnel. I only do a day’s worth the night before to save time the next day so wanted something cheap to see how I got on with them. I can’t find the link now but if you search bean cellar on Etsy you’ll probably find several.

Kitkat nice one, think that’s a route I may go down

Ikea used to sell some spice jars (Ortfylld I think they’re called) but now are discontinued and replaced by something else. I weigh my beans for the whole week and it makes the process easier, especially when you have a toddler around you who would want to weigh them for you (if I’d do it every morning).

@dfk41 it’s quite a calming activity for me to weigh the beans. And, to be honest, I get a kick when I manage to get exactly 18g without adding the extra 2-3 beans.

The retention wouldn’t be close to zero if I wouldn’t use bellows, I like my gear to be clean inside and out

It also gives me predictability and consistency in the process.

It certainly does, but so what? I take it you are fairly new to coffee and have grown up in the current environment? In the bad old days, I cannot recall anyone dying or being taken ill from coffee grinds! Personally I think there are very few people who can honestly taste the difference between 16.75 gms and 17.12, and thats before the milk goes in! It is hard to argue with all these go to procedures but I really wonder just how much of a difference they make
