Pompeyexile Absolutely no idea! I am just working on the basis that if I do not get on with it I will be able to move it on for £120. Someone else gets a bargain and I have just ‘rented’ a bit of coffee kit for a couple of weeks. I used to take this approach back in the days when I used to swop equipment on a monthly basis

Look at the price of a force tamper, then come back lol

    Thank you David 😎

5 days in now with the Bravo tamper.

As expected, had to side shift from the ACS basket back to the IMS basket.

Bravo feels great in the hand.

Does it make better coffee ? No.

Do the pucks look better when knocked out? No

Has it introduced anything to impact the cup in a negative way? NO.

Will i keep it? Yes i think so, Yes. Feels good and even though no obvious benefit, it does, i feel remove what could be seen as a variable. Its basically, as it’s designed to be, repeatable without requiring a coffee in order to get the brain functioning prior to using!!

So, thank tou for Forcing it on me (oh, no, wrong tamper!!) 🤭

Thank you David for the opportunity (just been watching lord Sugar!!).

    11 days later

I currently have a rather bad shoulder and appreciating the bravo tamper.

Im left handed. Bad left shoulder!!

Never had to do 2 handed tamp before and it just feels wrong trying to do it with my right hand!! You try using the wrong hand ☕

    About Me

      13 days later

Adrianmsmith I find I’m using the IMS baskets more and the Torr 54.4 is slightly sloppy in there. Thinking about investing in one of these.

How you finding it Adrian? 🙏

        Jason1wood

        But

        The ACS basket is better

        And its 54.4mm

Haven’t had a reply from bravo about a 54.4 base.

        Its certainly parallel every tamp…..

        About Me

Adrianmsmith haven’t compared side by side, but find myself reaching for the IMS basket. You think I should persevere with ACS basket?

            nope, ims comp is better

                Haha

Not quite, its 32mm same as the ims one. 19g with the 1.7mm puck screen. Ims is actually bigger as its 54.7mm not 54.4 diameter, so an extra half a bean bigger 🤭

I do have the 26mm ims but thats too small 🤭😎

Yeah! 17g is perfect on IMS26. Might get away up to 17.5 if not decaf.

The IMS 26 and IMS 32 take Bravo 54.9 mm in my case.

                    Thats interesting

I make “normal” and decaf for my wife, but the decaf needs 1 to 1.5g More not less…..

I Wish they made a 29mm high basket

Pompeyexile I don’t know about this one, but as a Normcore user I reckon you should go for the 3bomber 👍

Dont rate normcore they wobble when tamping, at least the v3 did

Try to pick up a used decent tamper

V4 was the same. Consistently unlevel. I sent it back.

I use an AliExpress special now, a copy of the force tamper, can’t recall who recommended it, was on this forum though I believe. It is doing a reasonable job, it’s pretty level I have to say. Not a fan of the click style though, it causes coffee grounds to accumulate underneath the levelling plate, above the tamping face.

As a result, every now and again it unseats the puck, I use an 18g vst basket. I find cleaning it thoroughly necessary and ensuring all parts have not loosened in their threads in order to avoid the puck being disturbed.

                          Tal was me lol

Most of that style with or without the punch get grounds under the top hat

Yeh, when I was typing the above I had a thought that it may have been you that recommended it. It tamps very level, so on that front it’s a winner.

Just the odd occasion it disturbs the puck, can usually isolate the cause due to coffee grounds or part of it coming loose, but mostly likely just a very snug fit to the VST
