Can any members who use one of these five me some pointers please. I have bought one as I want to drink a full mug as opposed half a mug which are the only options the stuff I currently use offers

@"dfk41"#p75991 I set my Niche Zero to 67.5, 22 grams of coffee, 330g of water in the water tank. This will give 270-280g in the cup. I don't stir, nor intervene in any way in the brew. Last water into the cone around 3:20-3:40, total brew time is 4:00 plus or minus 20s, mostly. I don't really know why I do it, but when I fold the filter paper I have the folded seam away from the drain hole in the cone.

So, from 13 brews, each with a different coffee: Avg EY: 20.2% (normal). stdev 0.87%. The average for 2041 pour overs being 19.9%, stdev 1.1%. Avg subjective liking score: 7.3 (79% - with 7.2/78% to 7.6/83% being typical), stdev 0.63. The average for 2041 pour overs being 7.4/80%, stdev 0.98. I have really only done Switch hybrid brew when you requested, during the Kinto/Hario med crepe test & I didn't have the best coffee available. Subsequently, I don't have a substantial sample of hybrid brews.

Is this the best and/or ideal brewer for 2 cups or more please? At the moment, I use Hario Hybrid without diffuser for 2 cups, 3 × 150g with the 3rd pour starting at 3:00 mins. I get a good cup.

LMSC For 2 cups you’re probably getting about 190g per cup from 450g brew water, you’ll only get 130-140 per cup from the Aromaboy.

After a bit of a fanny on, I ended up cancelling the original order and picking up one from Amazon. I went for one that was described as Used/Return and saved £7 on their normal price. it turned up yesterday a day early and appeared to be a genuine return and had not been used. I was quite surprised at how small it is which is possibly the reason for the return. However for me, it is the perfect size holding 350 mls of cold water. There is nothing to learn, add water, a filter and coffee and turn it on. Around 4 minutes later you have coffee! It makes one nice mug which is what I want at breakfast. I would say it performs as well as the Moccamaster I briefly owned. I have seen influencers knock it in direct comparison to the MM but in fairness taste is subjective and I found it certainly too hot to drink at the start…..and of course it is substantially cheaper.

Interesting data for me, especially the standard deviation although we can’t compare the two given the sample size.

I am tempted to get one with a similar hope of my wife finding it simple to use than the current workflow which is too complicated for her. 😊

Where do you get the filter papers for this? Is there a filter paper which you recommend for this brewer please?

LMSC I am far behind you brew boys but this morning I opened a Nicaraguan from Black Cat….you could smell the fruit when I was grinding it! Only made a few brews so far but for a troglodyte like me, it is great!

I bought one for my parents today, and did some testing.

Cute is the best description.

The brewed coffee was decent. Money well spent.

I am using the Pegasus 01 filters from Hario. (prefer them over Melitta ones)

The Aromaboy arrived from Amazon. Didn’t realise it doesn’t come with a filter paper which is in the post from Ozone coffee (Kalita 101, thanks to @MWJB).

Used the Filtropa 04 using the left over very good Taith’s Winton Benitez’s coffee which gave me a very nice cup across the brew medium.

I had just 12.4g of coffee; and, so used cold 186g of water for this brew.

I give this brew a generous 6.5/9, whereas I should only give 5/9. The coffee was very weak lacking sweetness, acidity and flavour/taste.

I probably think this filter paper is not fit for purpose. The dry coffee bed wasn’t flat either, which may have contributed to the cup outcome. May be, it will be fine with the usual 15g coffee, 225g water and Kalita 101 filter paper. It’s a shame I wasted a good coffee today. 😊

I am following Marks instructions of 22gms to 330 mls and to my undetermined taste buds, it is fine. I bought it more because it brews a decent mug full rather than anything else. For the beans I use I am quite happy but if you are buying good quality beans then I guess its shortcomings will soon appear

Glad you like the coffee from Aromaboy. Mine was just one brew which isn’t even my normal dose. I was genuinely surprised to see the dry bed looking like a crater resulting in a very weak extraction. It’s nothing to do with the coffee. I will brew a few with some normal and 22g once the filter paper is delivered and see.😊

On it I can brew good cup of coffee, starting from 170 ml. It really shines at small cups. (it can brew large batches also, but this is more common).

Here is a funny one. I made a brew this morning and poured it into an unheated mug. I had just started breakfast when an alarm went off on my phone saying I was due at the doctors in 10 minutes. SO I bolted breakfast and poured my coffee into an unheated Ninja travel mug. Now, it might be my imagination or just the fact that the coffee was cooler than I normally drink it at, but I could taste more than I remember previously. Is it simply the cooling effect?

Taith’s Colombia Winton Benitez Castillo Y05 Washed Thermal Shock

Kalita 101 was delivered. I decided to use a metal strainer along with a spare shower screen hoping to disperse the water around the bed to minimise what happened yesterday. It seems to have had the desired effect, although the filter paper and the normal dose may have also helped.

Dosed 15g coffe at 12% 400 Kruve, 226.g water and got 188.6 liquid. The coffee was too hot to drink. I waited for it to cool down.

I really liked the coffee, despite this being a smaller dose. The coffee was smooth, had a pleasant acidity as in strawberries / cherries (I do not know), did have the nutty taste which was absent elsewhere at the finish and some sugary after taste. It gets a straight 7.5/9.

I have two more cheaper strainers in the post. I will try them next time. 😀

I would say the cup was a bit weaker (not much) than the Hybrid, but thoroughly enjoyable.
