Jason1wood it was commissioned by a user (and now other people with disposable income have asked him for one, too). The basket spring is a bit loose. I’ve observed some edge leakage on fill when using that so went to a tight circlip. It’s more fiddly to install, tho.
In action:
I guess the trade off here would be whether someone wants to first buy a safety sleeve, then a drill press and bit to modify it.
Best to use s stainless circlip for the standard cylinder and screen, or spend a load (?) at sworks!! Dare we ask how muck?
Otherwise with gu10 clip or portafilter clip it leaks badly around the edges as reported by @Jason1wood in the original post above

Yeah but its not under any pressure, so ot comes back to the age old ims shower screen debate, unless you are looking at it under pressure in use how do we know how its acting?
One thing about those clips is you need to be super careful with then, that are what the evo originally shipped with and they can be a ball ache to fit, they cant spring out of the pliers and be quite dangerous, i marked the front of my machine with one of these coming free.
Think this is just a case of ££££ talking again,
I remember when people were moaning that the circlip was disturbing flow, so you cant win, one minute thats happening then the next the machine gives 40mls a second so has such a rapid fill it makes no odds 🤷

Cuprajake The rationale is that during the wetting phase, areas where water first hits the puck will present lower resistance to full infusion pressure (for reference, this is one of the reasons the Decent crew have released a new set of shower screens). I’ve observed that in situations where the initial water distribution isn’t uniform. How much one cares about that is as variable about opinions on color, heh.
The good thing is nobody is being forced to buy it. It’s an option that some people will choose over the others.
Adrianmsmith Yeah I have one of those. It’s a nice tight fit. Can’t say I enjoy the installation tho.
FWIW, I use the stock shower screen with GU10. It a tighter fit than with the IMS. It served me well for almost 4 years. Each to their own. 😊
LMSC yeah im using the stock screen also. Mine tends to get angled with the GU10 spring, so I switched over to the circlip Adrian kindly linked. I find the install is a bit fiddly (as Jake said above), but the distribution is pretty good. I might check out the Sworks screen if it simply screws in. Dont mind throwing that in the sonic bath once a week, and cleaning the piston head.
What you really need is 2 ims screens

The trick to installing them…..
Sit on a chair with shoulders approx level with the shower screen location
Put circlip on a flat surface
Insert pliers, Open pliers slightly and Pick it up , ensuring pins are flush to the surface of the circlip, thats important.
Insert shower screen with other hand with one finger holding it.
Swap finger as you offer up the circlip, locating circlip at back edge. Use the free hand now to press on the circlip near the pliers pins, pushing it in position. Release pliers.

But what happens when we introduce paper or mesh filters on top of the puck
While the decent shower screen is £17 that’s worth a punt, cant imagine the cost if the sworks for the evo, but then the evo can have triple the flow so dunno now much difference that makes at those fill rates. , 2seconds and the puck is over 2bar.
