Do the different manufacturer variants have the same burrs? I’ve always wondered what the difference is between the three different versions of Mythos.

More than once I’ve been absolutely done.

Sold a motorbike helmet that didn’t fit me and had just sat on the shelf for a while. The thing was immaculate, buyer got it for a song and then whinged it was ‘not as described’ so got a large refund, left negative feedback and there was f/a I could do about it.

The scumbag buyers know what they’re doing too taking advantage of it.

The second seller came back. He was selling used burrs as originals.

So, the seller that i bought the allegedly OEM burrs from who had bought them in error from Clumsy Goat. miraculously now has another set for sale!

He did message me to say he’d had an offer on the first set (you) and that he will be relisting another set shortly after if I was interested.

So I think he had the two sets. But hopefully legit mate. As above. Probably not a popular enough grinder, in the sense that the burrs would be easy to sell, to be worth copying the burrs for.

Only just read this post, If you have not tried levering off the carrier with a screwdriver DONT !!

Levering off carriers can buckle / bend them = they will run out of true after / wobble.

Running long screws through to use as ‘jacks’ scores up the under side of the housing.

A simple puller using 3 screws a metal disc and a bolt through the centre will lift the carrier off.

I’m popping over to David’s tomorrow to see if we can get the bottom burr removed. Remembering it’s reverse threaded.

@ dfk, sorry for tardy reply, if it is similar to other grinders the carrier is a press fit onto the shaft, often with a keyway to locate.To remove the carrier requires an even straight pull upwards. (eg Mazzer’s)

I found this advice online

The most common reason the lower burr holder is stuck is because the previous install did not line up the flat in the rotating burr holder with the flat on the armature. Tightening up the brass nut will force the rotating burr holder on, broaching metal, which then causes the jam situation. With the brass nut removed one can use long 4mm screws to lift the rotating burr holder off the armature. Take care to tighten the screws evenly to cause the burr holder to rise evenly. Look in the rotating burr holder and see if you can remove the aluminum that is now up in the hole. If not it is time to buy another rotating burr holder.

Does that make sense?

I have woken up today with renewed vigour! Today is the day that I crack this little problem. Having watched as many videos as I can find, I am certain that the problem is the coffee behind the burr carrier has taken in moisture and turned to glue. I have put copious amounts of WD40 down. I have new burrs at the ready and the only conclusion that I come to, is to give it some welly.

The worst that can happen is I damage the burr carrier which is circa £50. Until I solve this I cannot use the grinder so what is to lose? I will report back! I

I had been inserting a small screwdriver up through the coffee chute at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. I progressed to a larger one, then thought overnight as opposed to 4 fairly random places to tap and move 1 cm at a time. On the third location off it popped. I was pleasantly surprised as I did not really have to force it. At least now I know what the inside looks like! It is also pleasing that I was wrong about loads of impacted coffee solidifying!

My wife is now watching VE day celebrations so I have had to down tools till later, but am looking forward to giving it a clean out and fitting the new burrs, no doubt only to discover the next problem!

DavecUK Ha, well, I fully expected another issue because I always carry bad luck! I cleaned her up to find no compacted coffee. I have left a couple of screwdriver marks but I cannot see that mattering. I thought I would have a look at the new burrs. Now, the wording on the outside of the box is this:

The wording on the new burs is exactly the same as the wording on the old burrs

I have read as much as I can, but all references to burrs do not state OEM but Genuine Replacement. SO, I have bought Genuine Replacement Italmill burrs by the looks of it. There was nothing wrong with the burrs that were in, other than they were not OEM!

Stripped one of the burr chute screws! Luckily I ordered a replacement set but I have not got the strength in my hands to force it out…..bloody heart conditions!

I have instigated a return though Ebay. I do not like doing this but sometimes you do not have a choice
