dfk41 To get to this point, I had to remove the smell of WD40 from everything. I dropped the three parts affected into Isapropanol for a couple of hours then on the recommendation of @Elcarajillo I made up a solution of boiling water and Cafiza and steeped after a good scrubbing. Then a mild solution of washing up liquid followed by more scrubbing and cleaned with cold water. Patted dry then into the air fryer for 8 minutes at 80 degrees. Then overnight in a wire basket to lose any odours, resulting in nice non smelling burrs!

Its enough to make you turn to tea 🤭

@dfk41 I’m not sure where I’m working tomorrow but I can swing by as works depot is through tyne tunnel from you. Can fit clump crusher etc and see how we go from there. 🤞👌

Jason1wood You are always welcome fellow Mythos owner! It is all back together now but I have not dared to try it out. I have to go and see my brother in law but will be back home by 11.45 if that works for you

profesor_historia I would hope so! It is many years since I owned a Mythos. The 75mm burrs are made by Mahlkonig and I do not know what they have done to them but I had never tasted a flavour on any other grinder like it. Of course that was several years ago before single dosing became the rage, coupled with specialist burr sets. This particular grinder has never worked properly. It was stored in a shed for 3 years but I think now all of the issues are sorted out. The burrs that are fitted as far as I can tell are not OEM but aftermarket. That makes a difference of course. Once I am happy it is set up correctly, I will deal with the burr issue. Genuine OEL NS burrs can be for for £189 if you buy the coated ones or £48 if you buy normal. I would like Tin but I am not a cafe and there is no advantage that I can see. Doubtless I will keep this thread updated!

Could the burrs you bought be OEM for the Eureka version of the Mythos?

Was it a Eureka Mythos you had originally or a NS or VA one?

Perhaps the OEM burrs in each are slightly different.

Having been trying to get to the bottom of this for a couple of days, I received this message from someone who is well placed to know.

Hi, thank you for your reply. Whilst we are unable to 100% confirm the authenticity of the burrs. It seems to be original and the packaging and part number listed on the box correct. It is possible Eureka uses multiple manufacturers for their burrs. From experience quality can differ a little from batch to batch especially on the lower end burrs.

The wording stamped on the burrs from the picture you sent stand for as follows:
MAC stands for Macine. Translated from Italian is Millstones ie. Grinding Burrs.
75, Is the diameter of the burrs 75mm.
ITA stands for Italy.
TI stands for Titanium

Generally speaking the quality control is better on the VA / NS then on the Eureka versions of these burrs in terms of finish. But all versions will do the job just fine.

So I have contacted the Ebayer, apologised and am now quite happy (to a certain point!)

Is there any appreciable taste change / quality ?

Elcarajillo I started another thread Frank, The Mighty Mythos…….yes, it works better than I had hoped for. All the issues are resolved, and if my son comes round later I will get him to do a video. If he is not coming, then I will see what I can do one handed!
