FadedFrontiers I agree, one font would definitely pull it together better. I believe the lettering on this was done inhouse on limited equipment, but that is all going to be farmed out. I will be sure to make the point than a more integrated look is required.

You are probably right, but I find those people are best ignored. All they know how to do is knock and destroy, not create anything useful for others. They are simply people who add no value, except to their own needs, whatever they are!

Those mantis steam and water arms are more practical than they look. Had on my original evo. Didnt like the look when i went to see it but in use gave a lot of flexibility.

Sometimes you just need to try things!! They’re not always as they seem.

I am a newbe on coffeemachines but we are looking at the Falcon 1. I wonder of wat material the mushroom is made. if it is stainless steel, its Oke. But chromed ones are not oke because of corodation. I read this at other brands of coffee machies.

I also wonder if all tubes inside are stainless steel or copper. I don’t prefer PTFE inside. Finaly its a kind of plastic.

I know PTFE is also in the inside of the steampipe and I wil ask ACS to remove this and punt a thermo isolator on the outside. Thanks for reaction in advance.

The “mushroom” is not the standard mushroom (that does come in an accessories box), but it is replaced with a flow control device. I don’t know if this is chromed brass or stainless?

PTFE is very good in coffee machine tubing as it’s flexible, with great chemical and heat resistance. The heat in a coffee machine is no where near the heat used for cooking food, there is also no scraping or abrasion of the internal surface of the tube.

If you consider that PTFE tube is widely used in medical implants, dialysis and heart lung machines etc. It’s got to be pretty safe. Don’t confuse it with PTFE products used in cookware!

That said, I am sure ACS would customise it for you, but that always costs extra…which I don’t think is worth paying for to fix a problem that doesn’t exist.

Good morning. Thanks for answering my questions. I heard that in other marks of machines the chrome is coming of the brass after a while. They changed it for stainless steel. Did you hear of this item or had same experiences. I want to order the Falcon 1 when experiences are good and they are ready with solving items who needs attention. I am curious.

JeroenHensen The part that is stainless is often something called the “Mushroom” (and insert into the top of the group). Over the years manufacturers have tried ceramic…a big fail, as they crack, some have used steel mushrooms, but making the entire top portion of the group in stainless is tricky, as it’s a chromed low lead brass casting.

I don’t believe there is an issue, which usually happens in hard water and after descaling. If it does, just remove it and clean off any loose bits. In soft water or RO water treated for espresso machines, it’s not something I see.

DavecUK Hi Dave, I also just received a Falcon-I and I can just confirm, it’s a great machine. Nevertheless, regarding the PID parameters, I think there is some room for improvement. I would like to know if you have performed some scace test in the meantime. Did you find that the temperature of the gruppo is the actual brewing temperature? and what did you try so far regarding the bloom and preinfusion settings? Thank you!

There definitely is room for improvement in those settings and yes I have done some initial Scace II work. The temperature of the group is not the actual brewing temperature. I have detailed quite a few software tweaks I want on the Falcon (which of course will be downloadable onto existing machines. e.g.

For temperature management, I wish there to be an offset parameter (user changeable) on each PID setting. I want to find the best average offset across a range of temperatures, this can then be entered as a factory default. Essentially allowing you to set the boiler and group to the brew temperature you want. Of course the actual real temps will be different.

This would also allow the boiler to be set on the fly to be hotter or cooler and vice versa, to allow for different temperature profiles during the shot.

It will be a while coming as it needs testing and tweaking, but I can tell you more when I am out there next month.
