My son bought one for my wife a week ago. I must say I am fascinated by it! It hoovers, washes the floor. It maps the whole house out. You can set it to clean a room or the whole house. I always thought them to be pure novelty but my mind is changing now. The one we have and I am sure they are all the same, is very intuitive. It gives you a live map showing exactly where it has been. I have no idea how much it was but I think every home should have one! I suppose since it is Alexa enabled we ought to name it!

dfk41 They’re great in that set up with a solid floor but add a carpet and you’ll not get the same performance.

You do realise that they are illegal to operate without a Dalek on top.
It can be small and made from a takeaway coffee cup or larger if your machine doesn’t need to work under tables etc.

Adrianmsmith Your bad! Just for the record, I still have a Niche Zero and I am a big fan of it, when compared to other single dose grinders. It was the original mass produced often copied grinder. but, it does not hold a candle to the Mythos. The only thing a grinder should be noted for, is the cup it produces. All this garbage about retention, freshness etc etc is pure nonsense spouted out to justify the choice. This is why grinder A can be very average but when you put in the latest hypernova diamond edged ethically produced burrs it becomes the dogs bollox! All that does is confirm that the burrs are more important than the function and in my humble, the 75mm burrs in the Mythos are up there with them, and always have been

Uncletits Like this! It copes pretty well with the carpet but that is the only rug I have in the house

I’ve been keen to get one for a while. We’ve got solid floors throughout so it would hopefully work well.

Sadly my other half, despite being largely of modern persuasion is oddly offended by the idea of a robot vacuum cleaner. When I floated the idea, the reply was ‘Do I not do a good enough job?’.

Needless to say I won’t be getting one.

HarveyMushman I think your ammunition has been taken before you even can think of using it. This question “doesn’t take prisoners”. We have got one and as @dfk41 mentioned, it is a great piece of technology and very useful. Not that you need convincing.

Coincidentally, I’d been given one a few weeks back but only set it up this morning. So far it seems to be doing a decent job, most of my downstairs is tiled and having a toddler means it’s always in need of cleaning.

My other half is messy as anything at home but has the highest standards ever if we’re staying in an Airbnb, it’s very annoying when I have the standard argument about the fact we’ve paid a cleaning charge.

My vacuum is a Dreame, which after downloading the app is a Xiaomi brand AFAIK

We’ve got three of those now and can’t imagine living without them! (One on each floor). Wood flooring downstairs so vacuuming and occasional moping and results are great. On the other two floor we’ve got high pile carpets and they still work great. Don’t get me wrong you still need to get your standard vacuum cleaner once in a while but the amount of dust etc it picks up daily is astonishing. Flooring always looks clean. Highly recommend them.

LMSC Wwee have hard floors throughout (apart from one rug). I used to vacuum the floors with a wand type vacuum then use a spray mop with a weak solution of disinfectant to water.

MediumRoastSteam That is what I have. I do not know if the specific floor cleaner is any better but I have done it with Zoflora and water for 7 years now

Is there a recommended robot vac ?

Our home has tiles, laminated wooden flooring and carpet on all bed rooms.

We have been using the corded Miele for the last 10 years.

We originally owned a Eufy 30c which was a ‚dumb’ version so no map drawing, LiDAR etc. Watching it run completely clueless and bumping onto furniture and walls was a pain but must admit it was doing its job and floors were always clean. It served us 6 years with only replacing a brush and filters. Still working this year so sold it on.

We now have Lubluelu which are a fraction of the cost of iRobots and they are great. The first one is going strong since April 2024.
