This dropped through the letterbox yesterday; Portafilter gasket and grouphead to boiler gasket for my Europiccola. Also a torx bit to get the base off if ever I need to.

OK it wasn’t exactly today, but I got a bag of Kabira Ethiopia natural from Django (I know naturals might be a bit ‘marmite’ but I love em!)

I haven’t figured out how to do pictures on this forum without overloading the flux capacitor yet.

DavecUK 2007 believe it or not! I hope it’s as well look after on the inside - plan on doing a major service on her over the Xmas period, and hopefully making some drinkable espressos!

A new puck rake to try out. El cheapo from Ali Express, but surprisingly good quality.

milk frothing thermometer! my tender hands just cant cope past 135…. lol…

Atkinsons Archetype Espresso beans, Monsooned Malabar beans and a pack of Aeropress filters

….. Then DHL arrived with my shipment from Coffee Sensor. I only needed the silicon grouphead gasket, but ordered a few extras for my Europiccola to get free postage! 😁

My old RTX2070 graphics card failed about 3 or 4 weeks outside the 3 year warranty. New graphics cards are ridiculous prices and to get similar performance prices now approach £700!! MSI Poland agreed to RMA it for repair evaluation. A 90 euro diagnostic charge would result in a repair estimate, unknown. My cost to send the card to them in Poland (a nightmare, but only cost £17.50 tracked).

It arrived back today, swapped out for another identical RTX2070….no charges at all 😁Tonight, it’s out with the old crappy 10year old backup card…and back with the RTX 2070…thank goodness.

ear old backup card…and back with the RTX 3070…thank goodness.

DavecUK back with the RTX 2070

Will also take this opportunity to ask if there is an off-topic tag?

Back to topic: dimmer for Gene Cafe mod has arrived:

I hope we can all take a moment to marvel at the beautiful craftsmanship and intricate soldering job (this is how it came, wrapped in a sealed bag and all) that had gone into this masterpiece of engineering:

It is working though, believe it or not.

I do a little gaming, but I use the RTX 2070 for video processing, specifically H.265 for which it’s many times faster than my 8 core 16 thread processor…also for any CAD stuff I have to look at. The irritating thing is that to get similar performance to a 3 year old processor that cost me an overpriced £449 back then, I would have had to spend almost £700…which is ludicrous. I wasn’t pleased that it failed so fast especially as I wasn’t overclocking the card.

The only topic of this thread is what came in the post, coffee or not, nothing off topic here, just as Offleys coffee lounge is on or off topic…just a discussion lounge. saves us having too many areas (tags).

On to your Chinese triac dimmer…one does marvel in amazement at what those nimble Chinese hands are capable of. In the olden days, one could only get a UK made Varilight dimmer for 4 times more than you paid for that beautifully crafted box of electronics!

Oh, I didn’t mean that your post was off topic. I meant to ask if there was a place here where we can post something that has noting to do with coffee (apart from it being addressed to this community - e.g. a question about a lawnmower [not that I have such a question, just as an example. :-)]).

Considering the build quality of this thing, I think I might have overpaid….
