da23 In the electronic pre-infusion set via LCC, the pump turns off during the pre-infusion. When we do the pre-infusion manually, is there a difference between turning off the pump using the lever vs adjusting the paddle to the left for zero flow?
Not really, the effect is almost the same…the one difference is when the pump cuts off, the brew boiler (which is above 100C because of offset) still exerts a little pressure on the puck…when you cut the flow, there is no pressure exerted on the puck.
The automatic preinfusion also cuts wear on the paddle mechanism. How I use my V3 is to have a low flow start, preinfusion and a high flow finish. I will make a video soon of how mine is set up.
