For this machine it's one of the first made, and I am doing an Engineering review on it for Antonio (the creator) as a favour, so I can't really comment at this stage. But I can post photos….and say that the Paddle levers on this are very basic beta ones….so that area is still in the design melting pot.

I love the look of these sorts of lever machines, but they really need to at least try to make them a bit more compact in design. They're either lacking in that area of expertise or they don't care… A more compact design would look like a much better centre piece in a kitchen (and take less space in a commercial setting), rather than protruding till the near edge. The size distracts from the elegance of it.

@"Sham"#p10001 I agree when it comes to similar sized Levers that require external plumbing or flojet type arrangement. But the Nurri is dual boiler and plumbing is optional. Still, I agree that it's a lot for a normal kitchen. I like the footprint on the Decent for example.

@"tompoland"#p10007 In that case they should have either decreased tank sizes and utilised quicker water heating technology (I'm sure there's loads of options from other industry's) or started with a more wide design but I guess that would've cost too much R&D time. One way to think of it is that they won't lose customers if its small, but they will lose customers if its too big. It does look pretty nice though.

Makes sense, is it not? As you said, why run it until 10 pm, waste energy, money and emit CO2? Evo goes off at 8 am after 2 shots; and, she, mostly, doesn’t come up until the evening for 2 cups. During the day, I prefer pour overs for a couple of coffee, which will be usually V60 or a Clever for long steep. It has become rare the Evo is powered up during the day these days, unless we have some guests or am desperate for an espresso.

Well, it’s an awful lot cheaper, for those who can’t afford an Evo…The whole idea behind the Minima was the same or better performance than much more expensive dual boilers, for a Minima (smaller price). When I got into this hobby I was always interested in the prosumer (not the commercial machine side), and making high performing stuff much more affordable…..One of the reasons I like Lelit so much, the Bianca is astounding value and really performs!

I like the Solenoid E61 a lot as well…..for a lot of reasons.

I was thinking the same thing when I woke up this morning (because of electricity price rises)…plus the Elizabeth really sips energy when it’s on.

Question is… does it need to be E61? Bezzera has electric heated group, and they fit it to the BZ10 - an HX machine.

The Sage Dual Boiler also has electric heaters in the group.

I definitely think manufacturers could be more creative with eco modes. In my Ito installation I have it set so that after 20 mins it drops the boiler temperature to 80⁰C. It takes about 17 mins for everything to get up to temp, and dropping the boiler temperature keeps it warm without using as much energy. Returning to full temperature only takes a couple of minutes, and is usually done in the time it takes me to grind and prep.

I turn on them machine when I want to make a coffee, but it’s amazing how often 20 mins has gone by without me realising.

Looking around most eco modes just turn things off, rather than making use of different set points.

They do, when a delta change is a good way, especially as heat loss is a 4th power law.

It was added to the Vesuvius E61 profiling machine back in 2015. Might be time soon for people to start using it.

There is also a time to off in minutes, if it’s still not used after entering economy mode.

The Bianca’s standby mode keeps coffee boiler temp at 70C and service boiler turned off.

DavecUK and MediumRoastSteam, good to see some manufacturers make use of these features. It’s much more useful than the typical auto switch off.

I suspect part of the problem is that there doesn’t seem to be much competition on the electronics side with coffee machines. Most seem to use Gicar controllers, and from a quick look at their website the more advanced features are aimed at professional machines, and I’m sure their pricing is aligned with this. To be fair if people buy a coffee machine they expect it to last and electronics robustness could be an issue. A manufacturer could use a micro controller like an arduino for not a lot of money, but I suspect it wouldn’t be robust enough to be used commercially.

As far as I know, basically what @LMSC said, it will cost a bit of dev time depending on where they get the expertise from (better to just hire someone with experience in this) but I don’t think it would be that expensive (if they implement it on all their new machines)

I think that’s the problem and Gicar are not cheap, for either their kit and especially not for custom programming. The stuff is robust though. Vesuvius E61, Vesuvius Evo and Vostok boards (same board), I’ve ever only personally heard of 1 failure and I am not sure if it was actually a board failure. It’s a very tough board.

The LCC (grom Gicar) that Lelit uses is also very good, very reliable…much more modern 64 bit (Hi and Lo memory variants( RISC environment I think.

Paolo5 It definitely is bigger than the Evo, the dimensions look about right as I needed about 10cm space behind the machine for the smart plug. You can see from my photos.

It was a very early production machine, I would have called it pre production.

Theres also the profitec 800 lever, the acs leva evo around that price.

It looks nice with the wood, but i think unless you have a big kitchen its going to really dominate the space, id not want to do bigger than my leva evo
