For this machine it's one of the first made, and I am doing an Engineering review on it for Antonio (the creator) as a favour, so I can't really comment at this stage. But I can post photos….and say that the Paddle levers on this are very basic beta ones….so that area is still in the design melting pot.

I love the look of these sorts of lever machines, but they really need to at least try to make them a bit more compact in design. They're either lacking in that area of expertise or they don't care… A more compact design would look like a much better centre piece in a kitchen (and take less space in a commercial setting), rather than protruding till the near edge. The size distracts from the elegance of it.

@"Sham"#p10001 I agree when it comes to similar sized Levers that require external plumbing or flojet type arrangement. But the Nurri is dual boiler and plumbing is optional. Still, I agree that it's a lot for a normal kitchen. I like the footprint on the Decent for example.

@"tompoland"#p10007 In that case they should have either decreased tank sizes and utilised quicker water heating technology (I'm sure there's loads of options from other industry's) or started with a more wide design but I guess that would've cost too much R&D time. One way to think of it is that they won't lose customers if its small, but they will lose customers if its too big. It does look pretty nice though.

DavecUK and MediumRoastSteam, good to see some manufacturers make use of these features. It’s much more useful than the typical auto switch off.

I suspect part of the problem is that there doesn’t seem to be much competition on the electronics side with coffee machines. Most seem to use Gicar controllers, and from a quick look at their website the more advanced features are aimed at professional machines, and I’m sure their pricing is aligned with this. To be fair if people buy a coffee machine they expect it to last and electronics robustness could be an issue. A manufacturer could use a micro controller like an arduino for not a lot of money, but I suspect it wouldn’t be robust enough to be used commercially.

As far as I know, basically what @LMSC said, it will cost a bit of dev time depending on where they get the expertise from (better to just hire someone with experience in this) but I don’t think it would be that expensive (if they implement it on all their new machines)

I think that’s the problem and Gicar are not cheap, for either their kit and especially not for custom programming. The stuff is robust though. Vesuvius E61, Vesuvius Evo and Vostok boards (same board), I’ve ever only personally heard of 1 failure and I am not sure if it was actually a board failure. It’s a very tough board.

The LCC (grom Gicar) that Lelit uses is also very good, very reliable…much more modern 64 bit (Hi and Lo memory variants( RISC environment I think.

Paolo5 It definitely is bigger than the Evo, the dimensions look about right as I needed about 10cm space behind the machine for the smart plug. You can see from my photos.

It was a very early production machine, I would have called it pre production.

Theres also the profitec 800 lever, the acs leva evo around that price.

It looks nice with the wood, but i think unless you have a big kitchen its going to really dominate the space, id not want to do bigger than my leva evo

The “uncertainty” is between the ACS and the Nurri, at this point. I really dislike the aesthetics of the Profitec (it seems a big square box to me, even though the footprint is smaller than the other two).

The size thing is interesting:

ACS 368 × 508
Nurri 360 × 580
Profitec 339 × 505

The Nurri is the largest, but because of the sloping profile it seems (in photo - haven’t seen any of these in reality) smaller.

CoyoteOldMan In Australia ETA for the Nurri is “third quarter” so a bit of a wait. I don’t know how important timing is to you but you may want to factor availability into your considerations. I’m fine to wait for the Nurri because it is everything I want in a spring lever and I have Strietman to keep me content in the meantime.

CoyoteOldMan I’m looking for a lever machine as well. In terms of aesthetics and functional considerations, I’m right with you on those three machines. Unfortunately the footprints of the Vesuvius evo and Nurri are way too big for my kitchen. I may even be moving house in the medium term which would compound the size problem. So for now I’m just hoping the Argos materialises…

tompoland Thanks! ETA “May” for the UK - which is (I think) comparable to the ~month I’m hearing for the ACS.

If I may ask - what made you go the Nurri (rather than ACS) way? They seem to be pretty close, on paper, and I keep changing my mind as to which one I prefer.

CoyoteOldMan good question. I’m confident they will both make great espresso so in the end it came down to aesthetics. I’ve ordered the white model as uploaded earlier in the thread. I’ve had an Izzo Valexia which was a beauty but I guess I want something a bit different to the big stainless machines.
