I have a wooden handled bottomless pf (generic) that I bought for my Elizabeth then a barista pro IMS basket in it. Will this IMS basket fit the supplied bottomless pf that comes with the Vesuvius?

So, my Vesuvius arrived today. I didn’t want to start another thread and this looked like the most appropriate place to discuss my first day! It left Italy last Friday and arrived in my house today - 6 days, yipee! Mine was definitely used, the plastic was gone from it, there was dirt here and there, spilled water underneath the water tank and for some reason the pipes going onto the tank had a black residue of some sort on parts of them. The panel on top of the machine, where the cup test sits is pretty badly finished with dirty plastic covering it but doesn’t bother me. I didn’t pay for a brand new machine I guess!! Assembling was easy as the provided guide is comprehensive (remember the first thing you do is unscrew the four screws on the top of the side panels, no hammer or anything required) The Teflon furniture gliders I pre purchased are perfect for moving it around on the counter top. A bag of felt pads come with the machine. I put 1L through the group 200ml at a time with at least 15 seconds in between. I then emptied the service boiler twice as per manual. I noticed the shower screen had coffee on it so I soaked that in puly caff and gave a good wash. At this stage I only had time to pull 4 shots as I had to leave! I was close to dialled in by the fourth albeit a bit long but I took it with me in the car- I have to say it was very very nice. So I look forward to playing with it tomorrow. I thought I had a dodgy touch screen as it didn’t seem to respond some times but apparently there are different delay times for different choices on it.. phew..! Looks a stunning machine on the counter and I love the almost totally silent pump. I thought the water reservoir wasn’t the best design but I think I’ll get used to it and won’t have to be refilling it so often when I’m not flushing the system through and just using it to make coffee! It really is a different operation to the Elizabeth but I don’t think it will take long to get used to it. So, I can’t wait to drink coffee from it tomorrow

Description about video1:

Steam up to 128°, factory pid settings, 300 pump acceleration, pressure profile in two stages: 6” at 2 bar, rest at 8 bars. In the video you can see the pump struggling to pass this 1,5 bar “barrier” (it was exactly 2 bar on the manometer but unfortunately it broke) and then overshoots by far the 8 bars ruining the shot. This pressure peak compresses the puck slowing the flow a lot. Thing is: this NEVER happens when steam boiler is off or under 120°. It happens when steam boiler is hot and the machine is idle for 40-60 minutes (not every time but frecuently), rarely if the machine has been on for less than 30 minutes.

I don’t have a clue what might be going on…? Presumably when the factory test the actual machine, they will find out. I will be there next week, so may even get a chance to look at the machine.

It would be interesting if you also could see the machine in factory, more important information about, @tocateclas sent his machine to serratella (https://serratella.es/) an expert technician sat of coffee machines, and they spoke by videocall with Acs Sat and they changed this parts (image attached) but the machine with this parts changed continue with the same problem…

Would anyone have a teardown method or parts diagram please for the steam valve. Removal from body and valve plug replacement.

Valve is stiff to operate. Have lubed the front part but was unsure if the valve splits externally to remove the back part or if it has to be removed to do so.

Irrelevant if it needs removing or not as there is a slight weep of steam, water where the valve meets the body so I guess it’s a teardown after all!!

The joys of purchasing used!!

Any diagrams or advice will help

Have not tried to investigate yet.

Machine is now plumbed in for water feed and happy with how that works.

Not plumbed the drain yet 😎

Adrianmsmith I suspect that you might find some generic type steam valves blown up diagrams on the net. I do not know which one exactly ACS use but surely they have not developed it from scratch. As @DavecUK said, these are bullet proof and hopefully you should be able to resolve it.

The valve splits halfway down for lubrication, nothing in there should need replacement for a long time (many years).

Just feels like valve plug is sticking slightly and needs a clean

Has there been a step by step or any info to remove the valve from the body to cure the slight leak.

May become clear once I get time to have a look

very interesting. I guess my “leak”, tiny as it is must be from the copper connection to the back of the valve, inside the machine, as its seen on the body. the coating is blistering slightly. i dont know the history or if it has previously been disassembled. will update with my findings. when i refit, i would like to find a copper or stainless washer to hide the blistered body coating…… but then i have to do the water valve, just to make it match!!

hope i will have time at the weekend to investigate. will be interested to know how easy it is to access the back of the valve from inside the machine. 🤞🏻

Getting to the rear is a mild pain in the ass, made easier by boiler removal..

finally today i have time to look at the V

as you said, pain in the A to get access but my steam valve is behind the electrics no the boilers so 1% easier!!!

As suspected no thread locker on the valve on the rear side. BUT it did have from the factory, Previous owner “hasn’t worked on it” Well, someone clearly has! threads totally dry and easily removed by hand.

Dave do you know the correct tap size please to clean out the old thread locker on the back side of the valve.

Also what semi permanent thread locker would you use to re-assemble?

looked closely at the evo and vesuvius valves and then your picture to realise the teflon(?) washer is missing.

then realised the valve could by hand be unscrewed from the back boss!

no washer. lo threadlock….

havent removed it as steam wand was still on :) do you happen to know the size to order?

I wouldn’t worry about the washer…you can simply use PTFE tape on the threads…the washer isn’t doing very much. Use enough that it’s very tight to screw up so it won’t leak and when refitting secure from turning when tightening up the knot on the back of the panel by holding the front nut. It also means that future internal maintenance will not require valve removal from the machine.

It’s very strange no threadlock or washer though?

It’s a very strange problem, it doesn’t really make any sense? I have 4 tests I want to try.

The Falcon I is still a prototype, software and PID settings still to be finalised plus start/stop shot button to be placed on the front panel. I am hoping to get it to the UK so I can test and work on the software. 🤞
